Help! In Game Video problem.

Hi, I'm hoping someone can help me ... here's the problem:

If I have Enable in Game Video checked as an option ... and if there is a video as part of a session, it will playback just fine ... but when I exit the window that contains the video (whether I pause and exit, play it all the way through and exit, stop and exit, etc) ... Trainz (whether it be TS2009, TS2010 or TS12) crashes to the desktop ... no window for forwarding information to Auran ... the simulator is just gone.

I don't know if it's a 64-bit issue, whether I have a conflicting codec or what ... the video playback works great, no problems there ... but EVERY TIME with ANY VIDEO PLAYED, closing the window hosting the video crashes Trainz (in every version of Trainz that I have).

If I disable the In Game Video, the window is still displayed but no video plays (which is fine) ... and it DOES NOT CRASH ... so as a work around to be able to continue a session, it's all good ... but ... I don't think it should crash if there is a video.

Pretty much everything else works really well ... no missing dependencies, no faulty content, I do have an older Northbay County route and sessions that are out of date (but that's the only way I found that Northbay will work pretty well). Other than 3 things ... Northbay County related, everything is 100% up-to-date.

Any help would be appreciated.

Well ... I think it's directshow related (could still be a 64-bit issue) ... I removed the Directshow Video Player out of plugins.ini temporarly and it then didn't pay the video, but it didn't crash the window either (the reason I think it's directshow related).

I've also used the DS Tweaker utility to make sure everything is defaulting to Windows-based DS filters. Didn't seem to matter.

I just don't know. Since it's crashing on shutdown of the window ... NOT during actual playback ... might just be a destruction issue.

Is anyone else having this problem (if so, are you 64-bit or 32-bit windows) ... might be display driver related too I guess ... maybe not though.

Try uninstalling DIVx. This can cause problems with in-game video.

Well ... different ... but not really better ... now when I atttempt to close the window hosting the video, it just sits there ... I've waited quite a while to see if anything happens ... then I click (literally anywhere) and then it crashes. So ... definitely different.

I also uninstalled XVid and ffdshow ... only other non-Microsoft default codecs (that I'm sure about) other than DivX of course ... I guess there might be more ... have to do some more investigating ... since it did change, it still feels like a codec issue.

Video playbak is still fine. Just shutting down the window hosting the video crashes it ... I can play the videos multiple times too.

Thanks for the suggestion ... it's a least different.
