There are around 253,000 free items for download from the DLS which you can download from within the game, Locos, rolling stock cars boats planes animated people industries loads, you name it it's on there, mostly created by the users, loads of stuff on third party sites as well both free and payware, some very good quality some not so, have to remember there is stuff that was created for much older versions as well as new versions. if you can't access the Mac area its probably that you need a registered copy of Trainz to view it, some areas are off limits.
Not a lot of support? Well, Trainz for Mac is new and has its own section, plus most on here are Windows users and haven't a clue about Macs. I actually have one but its a G4 not a PC clone so not a lot of use these days for current software.

Performance wise it's supposed to be pretty much the same as Windows versions.
