You may also want to look at various fonts in general because some are the same as freely, and not-so-freely, available fonts such as Times, Eurostile, Goudy Oldstyle, Bookman, Century, etc. The reason why there's a charge for the fonts is because they are copywrite protected with royalties attached to their use, which goes back to the foundaries such as ITC, Monotype, Agfa, and so on.
Another source of fonts is those collections of clip-art you can get at BestBuy and other places. The clipart will be mostly trash, but the fonts are great.
