yes, as one Brit to another a very happy birthday NikkiA. There does not seem to be many of us brits left on the forum these days, so we have to stick very much together.

But alas I'm 40 today, they say I should feel old now, but to be honest the only thing I feel different about is being tired - after 2 days of being woken just after 7am by Parcel Force, we decided to head them off at the pass and set the alarm for 7am. Naturally this meant that they turned up at 2:30pm.

Well they do say that life begins at 40. As for the everyday troubles of being woke up early for work etc, I do not know if that ever goes away.
I was in a position to retire at 63 and therefore decided to do so. I then went and accepted some work from my former employers on a casual basis, that has steadily grown along with work from other companies.
I am now 67 working harder than ever in my own business accepting work from a number of companies which is all good for the bank balance. However, the other day I said to the wife that it would be nice to be in full retirement doing just what we wanted to do.
She replied, have you ever thought just what you would really do if that phone suddenly stopped ringing. Contemplating that I then found the prospect of full retirement very frightening.
Therefore NikkiA you have many years to look forward to with the parcel man knocking at your door at 7 AM, and you will be very happy to get up and greet him as the prospect of not doing that could well frighten you
