Graphics Cards (again)

Hi All,

I have the chance to buy a ATI Radeon X800 XT platinum edition card at about half the retail value. According to the specs it seems like it should be an excelent card for Trainz. But before I take the plunge, does anyone have any experience with this card?
Any advice would be appreciated,
Cheers,

I don't have the PE version, but I do
have an ATI AIW X800 XT (the All-In-Wonder is just an addon basically it's teh same X800 XT) and it's served very well for Trainz. I have used them in systems and haven't heard a complaint yet. If it seems like it's in good order and hasn't been abused I say go for it.

I run an X850 XT PE and it does fairly well. Certainly extended the life of my system by a year or two.

Graphics cards

Hi GP 38-2 and John,

Thanks for the quick replies. As far as it being abused, it's brand new, never been installed, so should be good. Anyhow I will have a waranty with it too.

Thanks again,

Do you realise this post is nearly 4 years old? If this is what you have bought then it is a very old card and will have stability issues with modern drivers and Windows7 as that wasn't out then.
Try some older drivers and run from DX9c.

Thanks for the reply i did not spec it would be 4 years but i throught
it worked with TS2009 as it was normally desgined for TC3 a version.

I qoute for users that have ATI Radeon x800 is use direct x for drive mode and use the editing mode in opengl for better text quality. i would not highly reccommed this graphics card for TS2010
