Gentle Souls:

I have enjoyed trains for six decades. One of my favorite memories has been of my forays into Grand Central Terminal in New York City.

I invite you to take a moment here to commemorate it's anniversary, and to solicit your memories of this fabulous place.

My fondest memory is arriving on a Metro North train from Poughkeepsie with an older and dear friend. She guided me into the vast space and waited for me to gasp. She regaled me with her stories of the place. Her father worked for the New York Central so she rode the train into town to go to the movies. She said good bye to her brother on his way to WW II there. And I got to meet some of her high school friends at a restaurant there as they celebrated their 65th graduation anniversary.

The US Postal Service has issued a $19.95 stamp for Express Mail to mark the anniversary.

I hope someone is building a Grand Central Terminal asset.

Anyway, what are your fond memories of this place?

Thanks,
Rivkah
