Gold Coast Light Railway demo (Is this TRS2009?)

Boarded October 2001
Here's a great route someone could throw together. The Gold Coast, just south of Auran's (Trainz) homeland in Brisbane Australia is the perfect setting for a light Railway transit system. A single mainline like the one shown in the following videos would serve most of the toursit and local population. The area already has a monorail, but it doesn't travel very far. The system envisaged in these videos is ideal.

There are four videos about the train system and others about buses. At the time of writing, I've only watched the train ones. They're reasonably short but the quality is superb. I really hope that these videos were produced with the forerunner of TRS2009 because everything is perfect. I just love those moving people and realistic cars, not to mention the way the camera just skirts around.

I hope you enjoy these short clips as much as I did.

Thanks for the 'heads up.'

As you say, they are outstanding and everything does seem reminiscent of TRS.

Would someone "in the know" care to comment?

If it is TRS2009 then it's certainly a good demo of what's to come!

Hi Twarner,

I went to India 1995 especially to ride the Darjeeling train. Prior to that I sent a leasurely week in Nepal, only to find that during that time the Darjeeling railway had closed because of a landslide. if only I had planned the trip in reverse! I still saw most of the railway, Darjeeling terminus and the trains, but it wasn't the same.

Sounds as if it was a great trip regardless.

The closest I've come to this wonderful railway is having been honoured to be chosen as one of the beta testers for the great Trainz version.

You have got it, of course? ;)

Actually I don't have it, but read about it in Virtual Trainz. I've been away from the Trainz scene for over two years due to health problems and not having the Internet. I''ve only started to climb back on board, but will do it slowly until I get back on my feet completely. Just purchased a new computer and fast video card which should handle most things thrown at it. I'm so far behind the eight ball, it isn't funny. Much catching up to do.

I'd be more than happy to ATTEMPT at this. This is the sort of thing I've been looking for. A really good Transit project. Its really exciting. If I could have a Gmaxer build the buildings and other things, I could do the route building and such.

Thanks Terry,

I've seen the page before, so I may have done the downloads already. On second thoughts, I think it was still a work in progress at the time. I'm currently looking for a Trainz backup DVD and I'll keep hunting for a day or so longer before I download. Nice to be back!

Isacc, there are a lot of buildings, but most are high rise apartment blocks, shopping malls etc. Many suitable structures would be available in the DLS oron Google Sketchup Warehouse (need conversion) because the taller buildings are similar to those in Hong Kong.

Typical Tampa Bay:p. I never thought of Google sketchup, I know how to texture and export to Trainz, so I can do that on my spare time. I have a great BRT Model, but unfortunately, its for RHD only, but I can use GMAX to mirror it to create a version for LHD. I'm going to ask Boat about the traffic lights on his ATLS, and also about using traffic masts...

Johnk.

Not blowing my own trumpet, but my Surfside Trams 2 route for TRS 2004. I did origonaly have the Monorail routes for Sea World and Pacific Fair included but removed them before upload as the Third Party Download for the monorail assets were too Big (25Mbs) to expect Trainzers to get.
This Route may give you some idea's if you are planing a Transit route.

NormP.

Norm, I've only just got back to Trainz after a long absense. By all means blow your trumpet. I'll look at Surfside Trams as soon as get the chance. My post was as much about the route as it was Trainz2009 (Ya or Na).

I'm not planning a trnsit link at this stage Norm, but i'd like to look at Surfside trams. I couldn't find on the DLS. Can you guide me in the right direction?

Johnk.

Just type NormP into the search for Layouts and into Sessions for one with the Title "Morning Worker"

Or if you like look for my ID number 51261:

Norm.

PS don't forget to tick 04.
