Getting back into the community

As the title states im getting re-involved into the community again. Havent played TRS since the 2004 edition and noticed alot of progress has been made with 12. As far as getting third party content is the dls still the same...and do you still require the dl helper? Also is there still advanced routes and locos you can purchase? I remember World of Trainz back in the day was a decent place. In a nutshell im just trying to get back into the community with any tips on good rolling stock and routes that are around now.Thankfully i have a great system now that can handle all this game has to offer!

If you know what you want to download use content manager. No need for anything else apart from a FCT.
Jointed rail, RR mods, trainzproroutes to name a few for third party content sites. There are russian sites, polish sites for european content (to name a few).

i have noticed the increase in eastern european content, nice to get some stuff from that region.

Also is there a guide for how to use the content manager? seems totally different now

welcome back. As you know there will be a lot for you to learn.No. 1 there multiplayer now.
There no real guide to CM but use the search on the left side of content manager,play with it you will get the hang of it soon.
It will fine almost everything you would like. There over 200,000 items that you can DL now.
I think that all the sites you used before are still here.
You will need at least 4Gigs of ram now.
Enjoy the new sim for now a new one will be along sooner then you think.
If you haven't yet besure to add all the patches,bring it up to build 49922.

Welcome back to the fold Mike! There are many sites that offer great content, N8phu has some great releases, and Marias Pass X for 12 has just been released. Donner Pass will be coming along shortly, and there are many new scenery items and other content on the DLS. Bottom line: you're going to be busy for awhile!
