Generate displacements at elevation height

I have looked thru the discussions on displacements but find nothing on the problem I have.
I need to generate displacements at elevation heights (eg. 500M) but the results are always at baseboard height.
When I try to raise them to elevations, they become very distorted. :o
Is there a way I can generate them at elevations?
Thanks,
Chuck

Make your own chroma ( color) displacements maps en use HOG , then you can set the hight in HOG.
It's not that dificult to make them with gradient fill and layers .
Take a look at the output of MICRODEM and you will see what colors and what range is used.

So you can't fix it unless you make you own? Shoot, I have no interest in using HOG and all that stuff, but would like to use some of the displacements I've found.

Set the height of your plateau function to 500 meter and maximum circle, then use it to raise the height of the whole baseboard. It's a little tedious if you have a lot of baseboards, but fairlty quick for just a few.

 Claude

What is HOGS?

I would be willing to try out the method using HOG but I don't know what the application is or where to find it.
Please tell me where to find HOG.
Thanks,
Chuck

hi, add a temporary base board (or however many you need for the displacement map)to your map and make the displacement in the usual way.

go to the spanner tab and select relative height in the copy paste tools, select the area of displacement you created, then use the paste tool to copy the area to the place you want it, when satisfied you can delete the temporary boards you created

cheers

Using temp baseboard

Thanks for the help Gav
One problem I have there is that I cannot get far enough back to place a large area accurately.

Get a good utility!

 Yardmaster, there is a program called TranzDEM. You'd be hard pressed to find a better arrangement, to make displacement maps for Trainz.

It is a payware program, payable through PayPal(20-Euros=about$29.00), well worth the price!

After making the DEM route map, at actual elevation, you can make topo maps, or Google image maps at 2km above ground height, and add them in Surveyor, to know where the content is for accurate location.

I got the utility, made a booklet of the .pdf manual, and now I want the shirt!

I've been using it to make some maps in Germany and bar none it is the best program out there for this purpose. Expensive? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely.

P.S. If you do want to buy it you'll have to wait till the end of the month about as geophil is on a rather long vacation.
