Garsdale Connection in Hawes Junction route

G’Day All, I have just installed TS10 to my new PC and patched it to 44088 and all was well.:)
I then proceeded to install S&C and patch, all seemed to go well until I went to play the Garsdale Connection on the Hawes Junction route. The tender and coaches which were previously coupled to the steam engines have been stolen.

I have looked in CM and everything is OK, tender and coaches show up as assets for the session? So I don’t know what is wrong but S&C did something not right.:(

Can anyone shed some light on this problem?
Regards
Barrie

G'Day All,
This gets even weirder as the items that are affected in not only Garsdale Connection but also CollierCommute & Wharton Coal can be seen in railyard and placed in surveyor, this will mean that any route/session that used these items prior to the install of S&C will also have this problem.:'(
I don’t know why they will not appear, seems very strange.
Regards
Barrie

The same thing affects me. I too have the S&C add on and encounter the smae problem on the Hawes junciton route. Have you nothiced the massive writing in the background?

G'Day Joe, the text there is fixable, there are (I think)two signals which were upgraded that cause this and it is the text size setting in the config file that needs changing to the same as those that don't have this problem.

Check out this and all will be revealed

Barrie, the S&C Add On will have updated some common assets used by sessions attached to the Hawes Junction route as well as the S&C sessions. I don't understand why updates to assets to make them TS2009/2010 compatible should adversely affect the Hawes Junction sessions that were developed for TS2006 using earlier versions of these assets that are not TS2009/2010 compatible.

Can you clone one of the sessions with the problem, open the clone in Surveyor, delete the Fowler 4F in Garsdale platform, then add a complete consist of 4F, tender and carriages? If so, the clone may form the basis of restoring this session to work again. The clone may also require Edit Session > Driver Setup to be edited to associate the newly-placed 4F with the correct Driver and his Schedule.

That would work. I actually cloned the route and sessions but left the 4fs in place, just adding a tender and carriages/wagons as appropriate. This meant that the driver set up was OK.

Cheers

G’Day All,
I have done an experiment on a spare PC, I installed TS10 & TS09 patched them with all applicable service packs.
I then tested the Hawes Junction sessions and all was fine in both, no missing rolling stock and everything behaved as it should.
I then installed S&C in both TS installs and once again missing carriages and giant lettering on tracks (this is some signals and just needs an entry into the config).
I then as suggested cloned the session and added the missing carriages but now the two mainline locos go through the stations and stop then proceed again.
The original driver commands were “navigate to Garsdale platform, platform number”, I tried navigate to track mark, the train stopped at the station OK, opened and shut the doors as if loading but then would not proceed and the load command had not gone from the command line.
This happens in both TS09 & TS10.
I am at this stage almost desperate enough to make two installs of the sims, one with and one without S&C but really should not have to, this problem seems to defy logic.

You may be too fed up to pursue this further, but in case you are willing to attempt a resolution, I suggest you go to http://settleandcarlisle.co.uk/index.html and click on the link titled 'Service Pack Now Available'. Here you will find a PDF called "Using Invisible Speed Signal in sessions for SnC in TS2009 and TS2010 v3" as part of a 670KB download. The synopsis of the document is:
This gives an outline of using invisible speed signals, coupled with a priority setting command which allows you to set which trains are affected by the speed limits set, in order to prevent AI trains over-running station stops.
The S&C TS2010 Service Pack has routes that include the invisible speed signals. You could have a look at 'Yorkshire Dales' and see for yourself how these are placed on the approaches to Garsdale and Dent. Create a clone of the 'Hawes Junction' route and edit it to include the Invisible Speed Signals around Dent and Garsdale and configure these as per the referenced document. Now edit the cloned session's config file so that the 'map' tag points to the cloned route rather than the original one. Open the session for editing and edit Driver Setup to conform with the instructions in the referenced document.

G'Day ElStoko, thank you for the information, it worked an absolute treat. Yes I was getting a bit desperate but I was still willing to try anything.

Hi,

I am having a problem trying to find the "Edit Properties" window for IS-S in surveyor referred to in the document.
Can anyone help please.

Mike

To open the edit properties window for the ISS first go into surveyor and click on the Tracks Tab on the right hand side. Then you should see a the top of the fly-out there are three circles, each with a diagram in them. Click the middle one. The Tracks Fly-out should change. Click the ? in the bottom right-hand corner of the fly-out. then click on the ISS. This should open the Edit Properties Window. Edit the properties as you wish. Then click the tick at the bottom of the Edit Properties window to save your changes.
Good Luck!
Joe:)

This is where you edit, I have used two invisible speed signs thes is the closer one to the station.
Hope this helps.
