Galveston TX: New Rail Bridge!

Cool picture. I'm guessing since the US make so little steel nowdays buying a used bridge is cheaper. Of course, you lose out on that "new bridge smell".

Getting it on a ship and getting it to San Francisco via the Panama Canal, loading it on a barge and taking it up the river for installation is not going to be a cheap venture. Then again, maybe they plan to break it down into small enough parts to ship it by rail. Either way it's going to cost some money.

I remember my brother telling me something like this. He's at college there on the island and is next to a sulfur plant. On a side note, the rail musem there is pretty cool. Got to ride in the cab with the train ride. When the hurricane went thru several years back, it wiped out the model railroad.
