I Got Boared And Remembered I Posted The Story Below At USLW Way Back When
And I So I Decided To Make A Thread For Such Things
These Are For Funny Railroad Stories You Won't Forget
Okay
Here's Mine:
I Will Never Forget The First Time I Rode In VE 502, My FAVORITE Locomotive There Is. The Crew At The Western Railway Museum Took 502, An Air Side Dump Hopper, A MOW Flatcar, Two BIG Ballast Hoppers, And An Old Tired Great Norther Caboose Out For The Run. I Was Running Late That Day So What I Did Is I Hopped Aboard The Tourist Train And Rode To The End Of Operational Track. From There It Was A 1 Mile Walk UP HILL, Fun Right? So I Did It In Like 20 Mins, And Finally I Made It. And I Saw The Crew Sitting Out In The Caboose Eating Lunch, I Got There RIGHT AS THEY GOT DONE!
It Was Funny
Either Way, We Were Dumping Dirt On One Of The Sides Of The Bridge, They Handed Me A Shovel And We Started Shoveling It Down The Fill To The Bottom Of The Fill. Later That Day I Rode In The Tower Of The Caboose As We Dumped Ballast. I Got Some GREAT Photo's. After A Full Day Of Fun, We Took The Train Back And Put All The Toys Away. Then I Rode In The Cab Of 502, And As We Approached The Crossing I Was Not Really Paying Attention, The Next Thing I Know, Bill (Slave-Driver) Is Blasting The Nathan P-3 That 502 Has On Her. And I Remember I Jumped Like 10 Feet While In That Cab. It Was Funny As HELL. That Day Is Something I Will Never Forget
