For DAP - AI throwing switches under moving trains - For DAP

David,
tried to PM this to you as well as posted under the forms. Your box was full, sorry!

TRS 2009, I am having switches thrown under cars causing derailments. I have had a train come into the yard under AI, not clear the tail end switch and then that switch is thrown oposite under the car. When I bring up a switch engine from the rear to pull cars off the train, I'm up a creek with out a paddle. I can't get to the last car because it is on the diverging spline and the switch is thrown for straight under that car. If I back the train up it derails due to the switch thrown the wrong way.
At another locatiuon on my route, I was pushing the wayfreight in to a passing siding. An AI train had just left the next town headed my way. In the process, it threw the switch under my train and caused a derailment.

Is this typical of AI? Or could there be a cause of which I am not aware?

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

David

David,
I know this thread is old, but is this still an issue for you? I had this happen to me just last night on a new route with long moving trains, going through complex track work, and under AI control. This is all in the latest SP2 update. Wanted to see if this is still a know bug before I go tear out tons of switches. I am also going to test some different invisible signals to see if it is related to that.

Thanks!
Joe

Indeed is an ongoing issue. I have posted several times about it and there are some solutions that may or may not work involving using signals, distances to other points, etc. Issue is not solved, but I was able to mitigate it by making certain that the lever is at the center of the round spline. Another fact is the type of car that derails: Seems that bogie cars are more prone to the problem (2 axle ones pass better but at least several times I had them derailing). Issue has been with us since several versions back, not only on the latest SP's If the "feature" of throwing switches back to default estate can be eliminated, the problem will go away. I even "managed" to get the problem while on DC control!
