Flying cars on roads.

Hiyas.

I'm curious on why traffic floats like 1 meter off the ground on the roads I lay down. It doesn't look natural to have cars seemingly hover and fly everywhere. I was wondering how I can fix that? I tried lowering the road, but when I lower the road far enough for the wheels of the cars to touch the ground, the road becomes submerged under the baseboards.

Any tips on fixing this? I'm using Mike's flat roads since the other grey road is too high for railroad crossings, especially with sidewalks.

Which Mike? Mike10 & mgreen48 (also Mike) both have road sets.

It sounds like you are using the former, and unfortunately that's the problem with Mike10's roads - they are defined as being close to the board, but the traffic is at standard height.

I've built my tramway routes (Westhaven Trams on the DLS, and Bridgehampton Metro still WIP) using a combination of Andi06's street kit, and mgreen48's roads. Andi06's street kit can also be combined with various pavement splines by other creators. These work very well with Andi06's tramway tracks, which I have used for most of the routes. All of these items need lowering to baseboard height in order to look right, but then the traffic is lowered at the same time, and, with a few exceptions, all of the traffic stays on the ground. There are a few vehicles which have their origin too far below the mesh, and will therefore float on any road (I think there is a built in van that does this). The only way to avoid this is to use a custom region that defines which vehicles will appear.

The issue with crossings is largely a matter of whose crossings you use. I'm not familiar with most of the North American crossings available, so I can't really comment. I must confess that sometimes I've had to fudge things with invisible track and bits of disconnected road to make things look right...

Hope this helps...
