Following purchase of a FCT, Content Manager refused to recognize it and although I received advice from the Auran Helpdesk it still did not work.
What does work, in my case for TRS 2006, is to delete the assets file in the main Trainz folder, shut down CMP then open CMP and give it time to rebuild the database. Following this process made CMP recognize the FCT when re-connected to the download station. The reason I say give it time is because you might think that there is something wrong with CMP on relaunch because it takes about 10 minutes plus (depending on the database size) before CMP shows up.
Hope this is useful to anyone with similar problems.
