I every body. I recently bought Trainz 2012 and like surveyor section. So, 1) Why grid in real scale are 720 x720 instead of 1000 x1000, would it not be easyer for constructor. 2) Is there some draw lines that take less memory than tools menu. 3) Is there some fan living in my erea .4) What is the software they use to create 3D objects. 5) I create few routes and I lost ererything when I try to install SP1 49922 to 57720. Is there somebody who can tell me in wich folder I could find my files. Everything goes bad since I have tried to instal that patch. So is there a way find the hard work I have losted. At least if I could fend my files I would be able to continue with my build version 49922. SOS Regards Guy

Hi and welcome to the forums. I can't answer all your questions, but: 4. You can use Blender, GMax, 3DS Max. The first two are free, but 3DS is VERY expensive. 5. There are two possibilities. First, save any backup folders located in G:\Program Files (x86)\N3V Games\TS12\UserData\backups (your drive name or location may vary). These can be imported into Trainz via Content Manager, under the File menu, the Import Content option. If that doesn't work, you can try installing a new copy of Trainz and use that same Import Content feature and point it to your old installation at G:\Program Files (x86)\N3V Games\TS12\UserData\local. Whatever you do, don't delete the old installation until you've done everything you can to try to recover those routes and anything else unreplaceable.

The 720m by 720m grid has been a standard with Trainz forever ... why exactly ... I don't know

I try hard to use the metric system, as that is what Trainz is based on.

I think that the 720m figure was arrived at when considering the computer speed and available memory current 14 years ago. Remember, all the scene position data and the position an type of the applied ground textures have to be contained in a database that Trainz uses for reference all the time as the viewpoint changes. A side effect of this was that the number of ground textures applied was then limited to 255 for the entire route, not just the individual board. That has been changed to a similar limit per board.

Thank you very much RRSignal for your comments. I found everything you have said. Now if I want to reinstall my backut what is the procedure. G44B

Grid needs to be standard for all routes so that they can be merged hence full scale. You can alter the measurement scale to represent a model railway scale. 10m of model railway would become 760m in trainz at 1/76 scale.
Lost routes may still be there, check the favorites star is not highlighted, as SP1 tens to reset default configuration.
