I have been visiting this website about weekly and since it is 100% in Dutch, I assume it is not that well known with the average public on this forum, but since there are a lot of translation tools available plus some of us prefer to look at pictures without bothering about the text around them I figured it was about time I should share this link with you all.
http://www.feijenoordsemeesters.nl
"Meesters" roughly translates to engineers. "Feijenoord" is a part of Rotterdam (and might be known to a few of you for the soccer club with the same name) and has been the home and starting point for railway activity in a 60km radius. The website contains a huge load of pictures and stories showing the railway history of the area I live in. The rise and fall of some yards and rail activity.
To name a very few topics you can find on this website:
A bit for the steam and electric fans.
The biggest yard in the Netherlands: Kijfhoek (and the construction of it).
Damage and derailments.
The full list of Dutch topics (main index) of the website.
A big Thank you to Cor de Rijke, the webmaster.
Enjoy!
