I'm not sure how many use this company to purchase their computer parts, but I just received this email from a phishing scheme looking to drag some personal information out of me.

Thanks John,

Agree, no legitimate bank will email anyone requesting this type of information.

Also, in the USA, beware of fake Census Takers knocking on your door and asking people for the Social Security information and banking information, etc.

Sadly, we know that some people will be duped into giving out this information.

Regards,

I know how sad this is. There are so many people out there that are so trusting with what goes on behind the computer keyboard.

New Egg is a reputable company and that email did not come from them although sometimes it is hard to tell. I recently received a similar fake request from ebay. It appeared to be authentic except for one small detail. They were asking me to update my debit account number. I suspected fraud immediately since I do not have a debit account with ebay. If in doubt about such requests, you should contact the real company directly.

Fake Email

I have recieved the same email your all talking about. I have not responded to it and i plan on keeping it that way. i was skimming the forums and came across that. i guess some inconsiderate people think that its funny sending phony emails.

I received this email today and immediately forwarded it to NewEgg.com. They thanked me for it and are "processing" it. Whatever that means.
