Escanaba Lake Superior Day

WCL

Canadian National
Today we took a lil trip to a new part of the state...On this part of the state the fall foliage was beautiful and yet this RR that were going to go and see will blend right in with the fall colors....This part of the state had a lil shortline working which was called the Escanaba and Lake Superior RR....Today we decided to check it out....

When we first got there we seen the DS4-4-660 number 101 getting ready to pull the local out of town

A shot of the lil yard with some ELS power laying over on jobs
The ELS 101 the ELS GP38-2 400 and the ELS SD9 1223

The 101 gets on its way to make its way across the state

Now doing some street running in a lil town

We then raced him to this lil bridge where he went under us

Another shot of him going across a small bridge right before town

In town now he takes the WYE to swing his train around to back it down the siding

Backing up to spot its cars in the siding

With its cars spotted in the siding the power cuts off the train and pulls up to the office to turn in for the day

currently its not publicaly available, need to iron out a few more glitches then its ready for public beta and release:)
Btw: Nice pics J, E&LS blends in nicely:D

Nikos I give ya 3 thumbs up for this GREAT route...I never seen such a GREAT fall route....I just LOVE the fall look and like you said the ELS sure does blend in very nicely :)....Thanks again Nikos :)

Nikos: Great looking route. What are you going to call the route? Please let us know when it's done. The ELS will always look best as a fall route.

WCL: I was the one who responded to your thread on the ELS yahoo group. I figure it would be better to talk here since this is a Trainz issue. If you could provide the kuid #'s for the ELS flat car #5264, box car #50100 and St Lawrence box car #101703 that would be great.

I currently have all the ELS engines and one of the box cars off the DLS, but couldn't find the cars above.

Thanks

Are you from the UP and near the ELS???

Cozmo: Thanks for the kuid on the St Lawrence box car, I'll look for it later this week when I have more time. If you could email the ELS flat car and other box car that would be great. I'm at danmrc@sbcglobal.net.

WCL: No, I'm a "FIB". But we vacation in the UP every fall for the past 15 years so I've gotten to know the line through my trips. My wife had family near M & M a while back so her Dad told me stories of all the train action back when the ELS hauled iron ore. I also thought the Pletts video did a good job showing off the line, even if it is a few years old.

Yes...Brad did an EXCELLENT job on that video...I wish I had it on DVD instead of VHS though...I watch that video at least once a week...The route of Nikos will be something like that and will be re-done to make it more of an ELS route with the actual cities and the interchange at Pembine with the CN (ex.WC) and will run from Pembine to Green Bay with the branch lines from Crivitz to Marinette and from Stiles Jct to Oconto Falls....

I talked to someone at Pletts last fall (I think Brads wife) and she told me that they were going to put the ELS video onto DVD this year or maybe early next year. They also will be adding an update of about 10 minutes to show some of the current operations.

Will the ELS version of Nikos route be coming out this summer? Is he doing it over to give it a more ELS feel?

Thanks

Oooo, I'll have to go there and see what they are going to be doing. I'll be in Eau Claire this weekend, Altoona is like 5 min's away from there so I guess I'll have to disappear for a couple hours from the girlfriend. And I dont think there will be a ELS version of his Georgia based route. But ya never know with him.

Cozmo: Cool. If you do stop by Altoona let us know if what they told me last year is still correct.

In another post WCL mentioned that the Nikos route would look more like the ELS, so I thought Nikos was going to do another route. I must have misunderstood what WCL meant - perhaps he is working on the ELS route.

Thanks

No he's going to release it like that...I am going to go in and give it more of an ELS feel towards it...The route of Nikos will be something like that but (I) will be re-doing it to make it more of an ELS route with the actual cities and the interchange at Pembine with the CN (ex.WC) and will run from Pembine to Green Bay with the branch lines from Crivitz to Marinette and from Stiles Jct to Oconto Falls....

Cozmo: Did you get a chance to stop by Altoona while in Eau Claire this past weekend? Did Pletts offer any kind of update on the ELS DVD version? Just wondering.

Thanks
