Erie F-units---need some feedback on them. I'm ressurecting a pair of HO FT-A diesels

I'll be getting a old Erie FT-A back to DCC here soon, it's an Athearn mechanism with a Cary die-cast metal shell. This thing weighs a lof, more than my Atlas RS-36 even. Now if anyone has any info on the specific horns that the Erie uses or any prototype details that would be appropriate, I'd be grateful of some info. Feel free to post what you're working on here too. That way we can all see what's going on with modelers in the Trainz community.

I'm currently tarting up an RS3 I got off ebay in a job lot of stuff, using another RS3 I also got for parts off ebay. The reamains will probably simulate a wreck waiting to be scrapped on a dead line too. The RS3 will be for use on one of the industrial sidings of a power station on my HO layout up in my loft. The layout itself models the join up point between NS and some of the smaller roads near NY with some coal operations on it, set a few years ago. This is so I can sling everything from D&H, NYS&W, P&W, Conrail, Pan Am on it if I feel like it, and have both N&W and NS liveried locos as well, and of course that also means I can sling pretty much any loco I like on it as well, which is handy because as much as I like NS, it would be boring to have only black locos on my layout, and I also happen to prefer older diesels like the older GPS etc.

Nice project, sounds like a lot of fun. One of the members of a local model railway club does a lot of DCC installations. He can hardwire just about anything if it's a diesel. Put some Conrail or Reading & Northern diesels in there, that'd liven up the color scheme. And thanks for letting me know about that webpage.

Only info I have shows Erie FT's as AB units with drawbars and they look "stock".

Pretty much what I'd figured on, whitepass. I actually have three old engines that I'm redoing. The Erie FT-A, a Bachmann GS4 made in 1976, and a FM Trainmaster made in 1980. That Train Master might be painted into CP/CN colors.
