ok folks

i downloaded the R62 sound set from a post while back in order to figure out how to program train sounds

its downloaded but how do i link it to a train to test it out?

What version of Trainz are you using. There's a big difference between TRS2004 and TRS2006.

Engine sounds

Hi dorimcheon,

Sorry I took so long to get back. To change the engine sound in a loco, open CMP "manage content in the launch screen" do a search for the loco by kuid number and clone it. this will give you the new kuid number of the loco, open the new one for edit in explorer. Open the config.txt file and look for the tag "enginesound", note down the kuid number of the engine sound. then look for the same kuid number inthe kuid table, possibly near the bottom of the config file. Change the enginesound kuid in the kuid table to the new engine sound kuid then go back to the "enginesound" tag and change the kuid there. Check that both kuids are the same then close and save the config file, re-commit the loco and bingo your done. One thing then you will have two of the same loco on your system one under the original kuid and one under your kuid it might be best to disable the original so you don't load the wrong one in surveyor.

Post again if you have any trouble.

Hope this helps,
Bill69

I have a problem.Every time i change steam sounds in ts2010 it goes silent.

Sometimes you have to change the engine spec to suit the new sound.
What loco are you trying to change? Post the kuid number and I will have a look at it.

This has been happening to me as well. Is there a way to know which sounds will work with which engine specs, or do we just have to try them out?

I'm having the problem specifically with Paul'z Trainz N2, I guess I'll have to go back to his originals. I changed them because I was getting safety valve noise almost constantly.
Thanks,
Mick Berg.

Mick: As far as I know there is no way to tell..so I guess its trail and error time..Another thing I would like to stress is, make sure you are committing thru explorer..The reason I'm saying that is, I did not commit and it didn't turn out until I did..
