I R MAD!!!

I can no longer open Trainz!!! I click start and it freezes! I reinstalled it twice and after adding content, it sticks! Even after debugging it still doesn't work. It sucks!!! Is there an update PLZ? Anything that can fix the problem??? ANYTHING!!!:'(:(:'(

First, long time no see ilovetrainz_UP.

Second...can you please post your computer specs? And if you can do a TrainzDiag show the results here.:)

What you have posted is not enough info, for me anyway, to diagnose the problem.

Also do you have SP1?
Till I have more info, I cant help you.

Thanks!

Cheers,
Adam

I reinstalled it twice and after adding content, it sticks!

Looks like some dodgy content then doesn't it.

Does it work OK without that content installed?

If it does, install the content a little at a time until you find the piece(s) it dosn't like.

Mike.

You're not alone ilovetrainz_UP, the same thing's happening to me and the ONLY way to unfreeze the machine is to hold the power button in... Then, I try again later and... same again! It's even happening when I'm not using Trainz now. Anyway, I called a computer technician and he's got no idea either but thinks it's either the computer hardware's had enough or a virus. Anyway, I know what you're going through and if somebody, ANYBODY knows how to fix it, please help!

sounds like some odd content:-

try opeing the trs2006 folder and delting the file "assets.tdx".

Now open cmp and let it rebuild the file. That may help, now (sorry) use cmp to open the local assets, filter ny date added, now delete everything downloaded after your problem started.

If that fails, try deleting all the downloaded content..

if it's happening with other programs, it's not a trainz problem.
try cleaning out the CPU fans and de-dusting the motherboard - sometimes the motherboard gets dustty which can reduce the collong dramatically - overheating the cpu isn't good..

Colin

Remember that, when you delete assets.tdx any disabling of faulty and incomplete content is gone. If you do not afterwards (but before starting the sim) disable or remove this content

which is why I then wrote:-

use cmp to open the local assets, filter by date added, now delete everything downloaded after your problem started.

If that fails, try deleting all the downloaded content..
(eidited for mis-typing)

It is not just the re-build that's important (though it should allow CMP to run)

CMP Freezes when I open it, I'm getting confuggled...this is weird and now I can't delete content...

Going to have to reinstall a 3rd time...here we go with the fail...

EDIT: Caught myself... when I delete content, Are only the added content in the Local folder? I hope so...

Had to laugh especially at the confuggled bit as had similar problems.......... Next try though with tc3. Barry

i had the same problem.it fixed for me however. when you open the launcher
click "start" freezes right? LEAVE IT (sorry for caps) but like i said leave it for a real 8 minutes.after that it should say "some content has not been commited launch trainz anyway?" then click yes.that should fix the probelm:)

ya i now.after you click yes,you have the ability to open CMP then commit it.that should give a clear future;)

Reinstall Trainz Man Or Buy A New Copy

No, that is not what you do!

As I have said with anyone, when you don't get reaction from CMP, leave it for a length of time, like 30 minutes, because it seriously takes that long to search for assets. My 4 year old laptop has taken 45 minutes to rebuild the TAD, due to the amount of content it needs to find! (And most of it is mine anyway! ;-) )

Patience is a virtue, although, I've had 2 PCs simultaneously rebuild the TAD, because CMP has crashed.

Faulty content... as already mentioned, move the local folder out, then recreate one, then start adding in all the content from the (old) local folder to the new local folder, deleting the assets.tdx and starting CMP evey time you add something. (You could try something in bulk, then you know which ones it is likely to be.) This will take some time though.

The other option, is under explorer, navigate the local folder, then under the menu of view, click details, then arrange as date modified. If you sort the folder list to the latest ones you added, select them and drag them out of the folder by pressing shift (place them in a new folder on the desktop for now). Then rebuild the TAD.
Obviously, you don't want to remove your items, so go into each asset and open an instance of notepad, then click and drag the "config.chump" file into the notepad window.
At this point, the Chump file won't make sense to you, don't worry, they won't! What you are looking for, is clues it is yours, try looking for the description tag and everything after it.
When you are done and you know its yours, copy it back and see what happens. Just DON'T modify the chump file, or it may crash CMP again.

It is also worth noting, do not mess with the local folder, Auran and I do not recommend it, because there is so much that can go wrong with your installation.

HTHs, unlike the user above me.
