ECML, Help needed with Trackmarks and Session Schedules.

I,m working on the ECML and need help with two things that are beyond my poor computer skills. In Driver there are so many trackmarks that that can,t all fit on the screen. Now I remember reading somewhere in these forums hat you can put them in groups. For example If I select track marker "New" It will open up a list of all trackmarks starting with "New" But I can,t remember how to do it.
Secondly, I want to edit the train schedules provided for the scenarios But I don,t know where there are kept.

Yeah Your'e right colourlight. There's TM's all over the place. I think maybe this is a pre layers route. (wasn't it built in to one of the editions?) I am going to go into mine and delete every TM one by one because altering the config will only cause probs. I think TM's are best used in session layers only.
By the way, do you get a livery error when you open the route. Perhaps some vehicles have been placed in route layer instead of session layer.

No, I havn,t noticed a livery error. Using trackmark system of navigation I would need 19 between Newcastle and York alone. Think I,ll consider an alternative method such as track priority markers.

ECML schedules

Colourlight,

The large number of trackmarks in ECML is obviously a consequence of the large route. I am sure the route makers did not just add trackmarks for the fun of it and if you have set a couple of trains going from Kings Cross to any of the mainline stations further north you will find that at least one of them will take a detour through the various yards if you do not tell them to go via trackmarks on the mainline. This will slow the train and it is rather odd to have a mainline passenger service taking a detour through a yard when it should be using the main fast line. I therefore would not be too quick to delete them because they are very useful, you might of course want some extra ones for your own use and these might be better placed on the session layer.

To answer your second question you can edit the schedules in the Session Editor by going in to "Edit Session Rules" then "Driver Setup".
You could also add the rule, Schedule Library, in "Edit Session Rules" and this will allow you to make a list of commands that can be copied to any driver either in "Driver Setup" or in game. You need to add the "Copy Commands From" command to the list of commands under "Driver Command"

I do not know if you have alredy found this but there is another good session for passenger services for ECML called ECML Limited Real Timetable by donaldwm <kuid:91379:1001>

Hope this helps with your question.

Hi

If you don't want to add any more trackmarks could I suggest using one of the Path rules for areas where the AI gets confused. It can take a little while to set up but once it's done the AI trains will take the route that they are supposed to. Use it in conjunction with the Schedule library and it will save a lot of time when adding other trains following the same route.

I wouldnt start removing TM's as this will cause you massive problems of trains going where they shouldnt. The program works out the straightest direct line to get to it end point like a piece a string. So removing them will make your trains go through sidings and wrong line as already stated.

The route was built before the layer system but why would you want that on a separate layer.

Nice to hear from the head of the ECML development team I have always used a combination of Trackmarkers and Wrong direction markers for my A1 trains. My only concern is there are so many. I am redoing them all with Two objectives in mind. 1. Reduce the total number as they won,t all fit on the screen and 2. Use my naming system so I know exactly where they are on the route. So "New N DF" would mean the track marker is on the Down Fast North of Newcastle. I just have time to add the ECML is a fantastic layout which has had an enormous amount of manhours spent on it. Overall it is very realistic and driving a train has a realistic feel to it. Finally I recently bought a high end gaming macine which can handle the ECML with no lag whatsoever. Keep up the good work.

Pleased you enjoy the route. Its being built/updated all the time so just gets bigger and better. Interesting that the TM list covers your whole screen. Are you using a large screen size as it should all fit very nicely on only part of your screen. On my screen just the left half of the screen. The first column of course is the shortened name description A,B,C etc which may have say H listed six times followed by your columns of full named TM's.

Thanks to Napierdeltic for your comments. I have a full screen I believe and when I open up the trackmark window in driver I see a list of Letters. Selecting a letter reveals a list of trackmarks like you said. There is no letter A,B and possibly some C's missing a the top. Which is what leads me to believe the list won,t all fit on the screen. I,ll take another look at it later when I hope to run an HST from Newcastle to York to check my work so far. My big question is to myself is "how much rolling stock and how many A1 trains I can have without the dreaded lag creeping in" I will probably have to settle for individual sessions with each session based on different area of operations. My first one is intended to give my computer a real test to see what it can handle and will be based on Kings Cross. No portals for this one, All the Stock being in the Station and Sidings in North London such as Bounds Green Depot. I am looking at 5 loco hauled, 1 HST, 2 DMU,s an hour and probably an inner surburban service. I havn,t worked out how many sets will be needed but it will be a lot! Another scenario will be less intense which will be Ferrybridge Power Station Merry-go-round services. One good thing about the ECML there are plenty of green boards and dead end lines to give me plenty of scope.

Sounds to me you have the wrong display settings. Not talking about the normal computer screen settings but the settings Trainz runs on. When you start Trainz you have a small list of where to go first. Like content etc click on the options button and alter your display settings tab there.

Sorry all. I may have said that wrong.
I have always (since layers arrived) put all trackmarks in the sessions I am making for a particular route. It's a habit I found works for me. Even priority markers go in sessions however directional markers are left in routes unless I want a consist to go somewhere special.
