Hi I was wondering is there any easy way to set up consists in trainz surveyor? I just downloaded a route and it has a huge yard. The consists in trainz arnt detailed so and I wanted to use some more detailed assets, but filling the yard will take a while and I don't have that much time on my hands. Thanks!

The easiest way is to make up the consist in surveyor by adding vehicles onto the layout, then select the Consist option with the Locos tab and select the Get Consist 'G' button and click anywhere in the consist. Enter a name as requested and OK.

If you mean is there an easier way than adding the vehicles one at a time, then the only option is to start with smaller consists and build them up into larger consists. But at some point you need to add individual vehicles - there is no way around that.

I set up a track a tab more than 1 mile long ... and then add @ 137 railcars ... then click the ? mark button, and name that a "New Consist", save it, and give it a name .... say: "1280' PRR Hopper" ... or: "PRR Passenger", or: "PRR F7A-B-B-A" ... then these long trains, or multiple unit loco's are easily placed, using one click

If I want to make a selected consist, I use CM to find the RR to drop in the pick list.
We should have been able to make a consist in CM.

I user a piece of track in Surveyor like Cascade Railroad does to configure a bunch-o-consists ahead of time. I'll gather various boxcars together, then tanks, hoppers, flats, etc. then cut the giant consist apart. I'll then save the individual consists and name them based on the number and type of cars in the consist. Let's say I have 20 box cars, I'll call this consist 20x ---- Boxcars.

Once I have these consists, I then mix and match cars from them to make up some mixed freight consists of various lengths. I call these Mixed Freight Long ---- 01, Mixed Freight Long ---- 02, and repeat this with various configurations. I also do this with smaller consists and consists of engines only, passenger trains, trolley cars, subways, etc.

With these consists, I can then add them to portal trains, other trains, use them as yard components, and when I've run out of cars during a session, I can then add them back in somewhere using the quick drive as needed.
