DVD 2019 version

Is there a DVD version of Trainz 2019? The only version I have seen is "digital download only". I absolutely do not do digital downloads of any product be it Trainz or whatever. I have the DVD version of Trainz 2016 which I will uninstall before I install 2019. The only changes I have made to 2016 is add several assets from the download station so uninstalling it isn't a great loss.

Currently no. There will be a new run (expected in a few weeks time). Fyi, the TRS19 product that is installed via digital download is identical to the DVD version. You can also copy your installed version to a USB or external hard drive as a backup.

After installing the digital download and make a back up on USB or external hard drive, can you use it without an internet connection ?

You can install without internet, but to launch and play the game, it'll require internet connection every 30 days so Trainz can make the phone call home to his parents (DRM servers) to see if he has the permissions to continue going or not.

This applies to the box copies as well.

Cheers

If you download, and then save to USB, make sure the file system of the USB is NTSF. FAT32 allows no more than 4GB, and the smallest TRS19 is around 9GB. I would like to burn to DVD, but it would require 2 of them, and I have no idea now how to split an installation, specially when they are zipped.

Tony. Could you please ensure that this is announced on the Forum as well as the Newsletter as there are a number if us waiting for the DVD version.

Thanks for the good news

I am aware the Digital and DVD versions are the same but I don't trust the accuracy of digital downloads. Also Windows 10 sucks and is susceptible to screw up the downloaded program when it updates. I know my internet goes haywire at each update and it takes 1 to 2 hours to get it working properly again. I also have 8 USB hubs in my desktop PC and not a single one of them work since the last Windows update. It is just much more simple to reinstall from a DVD than digital if need be is my reasoning.

BTW, thanks for your reply.
