In the recent review of the franchise of passenger rail in the north of the Kingdom First ScotRail lost it's position to the Netherlands State Railway. Although First seemed to have done a reasonable job and 90% of passengers satisfied the alternative bid won the day. There will be increased services in places,longer train, some reduced fares and other temptations so will be interesting to see how things work out.
