Durango & Silverton Bridges

Hi Folks:

Some years ago I made the bridge on the D&S at the highline. I'm going to make the two others I remember from when I rode the D&S - unless someone else has already made them.

One was just outside of Durango. I seem to remember it consisting of a tall through truss, a lower through truss and a deck plate girder.

The other is the low beam bridge just before you enter Silverton.

However - when I do a search for Durango & Silverton bridges I turn up all sorts of bridges I definitely do not remember.

Anyone know if there were others?

Good photos from as close to the side and basic dimensions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Ben

Ben,

Check these photos out: http://www.steamphotos.com/Railroad-Photos/Durango-Silverton-Narrow-Gauge

Yup - that's the one I remember. Printed out the photos. Thanks. Interesting in this day and age they have kept the wooden pony truss (not that I'm complaining of course).

Any ideas as to length? I estimate:
120 feet for the warren truss
80 feet for the wooden pony truss
40 to 60 feet for the through plate girder.
Anyone have better info?

Oh - looks like I may be making the bridge just outside of Silverton too. Anyone have length info on that one? I have photos.

Thanks.

Ben

I could if I Googled (which I don't, lol) but thanks for the idea.

The loco and boxcar on the bridge are known lengths so I can use them and do a bit of ratio-n-proportion. Won't be too far off.

Thanks. The photo on that site of the original (all wood) bridge seems to show pony trusses at each end and more importantly the same length. That means the new bright and shiny through plate girder is also 80 feet long. Anyone know differently?

BTW: With better photos I can make the original as well if anyone is interested.
