Duluth/Superior

New boarding car versions

I had to have real windows, thanks to Curtis for making the original Gmax files available. No interior cameras - my thought is the interior is just for glimpsing from the exterior. For some reason I had an awful time getting the smoke to work.

Wow, I live in Duluth and love the area. I am so excited to have this route in development. I scanned this entire thread curious if it is available for download yet? Not sure. But such amazing work. I'm so excited! :udrool:

Hey, sorry for the delayed response. I'm typically out of touch for large parts of the summer. Parts of this route are getting close to release though I'm being delayed by Trainz 2012 - updating for 2012 I mean. I hope to start releasing some of my re-skins on my blog soon - not set up yet. I'll update on this thread.

so excited

Hello, I was browsing your site and looking at your screenshots on this thread. I'm really really hoping that this will be available soon. I'm very excited about this route. Will you be charging for it? And... any idea when it might become available?

By no means to I want to be pushy... but I'm so excited about bringing the Messabi to life on my computer!

Hey, no worries. I'm getting bogged down with life and making custom content for the route. I have almost completed 9 versions of the boarding cars seen here - but much cleaned up with ends. These are based on a single photo in Herald King's Missabe Road book. I fact-checked them with the 1910 official railway equipment guide. They came in sets of 8 numbered sequentially between A-G. I added a commissary car hence the 9. I will release them as rolling stock and scenery items. I've also started a very early bobber-style caboose that will be mostly prototypical. And a bunch of buildings . . .

So, the modules I have in progress are:
An early ore-yard based loosely on Proctor called Big-Sag
An early shipyard based loosely on the original McDougall yard at Duluth, which became Fraser Shipyards. This is based on Ian's whaleback models which I think are on the DLS now.
A sequence of 4 ore docks based loosely on the original ones at Superior which long trestle approaches.

I don't plan on charging for anything.

Well thanks for doing what you do. I'm on pins and needles awaiting my first chance to run the line from proctor to the ore docks! always wanted to do that. Has it been tough doing the grade work?

The grade work is a mess and I'm not trying to duplicate the Proctor to Duluth run. Instead working on a stylized version of Superior.
