Drunk Driverz and creepy drivers

Okay, so I had to do the Z thing with the Carz...

Has anyone watched the carz in TS12? Are they drunk or texting while driving? They swerve all over the road, crossing the median, and even driving into on coming traffic!

It's quite hilarious to watch, although the swerving across the lanes becomes a bit much. It's like they're driving around a slalom race course.

And oh, how about the creeping drivers. These are the ones that must be either scared or old farts. They get out on the roads and creep along at 10 mph, tie up traffic, and cause backups. The other cars in the back will honk their horns then finally drive around the creeps.

Hello John,

Well, I am an old fart.

But.... when I go on the freeways around Charlotte, I drive at 20 MPH, not the 10 MPH that you say.

Driving at 20 MPH makes me feel like a NASCAR driver.:)

OK, just kidding. I do the speed limit.

Regards.

I do the speed limit myself, but don't text and swerve like the carz drivers do.

Trainz carz drivers are all trained in australia. We DO NOT issues licences until they can reach the pedals.

Trainz is, after all, a simulation. The road users in Trainz are clearly copying real life situations, LOL:D Mind you some of the road users in real life are even worse then anything Trainz can come up with!:)

I live right on a golf course, and people that go golfing always drive slowly. You can really tell they are here to golf when they do the recommended speed on the tight turns!

No, no.

We, in Australia, only give out licences to people who send in 30 tokens from any Kelloggs cereal to N3V or their closest driving school.

Back on topic:

I've only ever seen a handful of bad drivers. One did a drift at an intersection, another went the wrong way around a roundabout, and some others that I've forgotten. Then again, I've either got my head in a book, I'm looking for Volkswagen Beetles, or taking the train while I read a book and look out for VWs. (Or listen to the locomotive (If it's steam), or nearly punch myself for not having something handy to record the hornsound for Trainz(If it's electric))

I too like Vdubs. There are some good ones on the DL. All that and the more modern cars give the route builder a great choice. What about those old T models with tarps. They look great on a older type route. So what if the wheels are buried.

In the UK, we hand out licenses to people who rob cars and are a danger to themselves and other road users, if caught, you get free driving lessons, and a free test, so the next time you rob a car, you will be able to drive the car without crashing it, the politians believe you will be safer on the road this way...

Over here people buy their licenses from the Sears and Roebuck catalog. It's on page 386 along with other automobile accessories like cell phones, air refresh tags, and car window cleaner.

Hear hear, I agree :hehe: .

I won't disagree either. After driving in the UK, I actually found it easier than trying to keep right all the time like we do back "home". It makes sense because for the most part, the driver gets out on the curbside as well as the back passengers. Who cares about the front passenger!

sounds like 128 during the morning rush!

Hey John - I'm trying the Fitchburg Div. in TransDEM... What do you think?
I'm kind of thinking 1950's at this point.

This is VERY much like Rt128, which i drive every day! :o :hehe:

The Fitchburg Div. sounds awesome. :D

That's a lot of area to cover though so do it in bit and pieces otherwise your system will choke!

The 1950s through the 1970s will bring on some awesome equipment though. The old B&M was still running Alco-RS3s and even some older Geeps. If you think about it, this could very well be any time before Guilford because you can actually put back the second track through Lunenburg and Ashburnham, which I think Guilford ripped up.

The 1950s to mid-1960s, I think also had some long distance passenger trains to Troy. This is where the old B&M E8s come in pulling the old varnish. Before that in the early 1950s, you had the T1s and their Pacifics hauling the varnish as well. It's too bad my neighbor passed away a number of years ago. He was a conductor for the B&M and had a ton of old slides he used to show over at the Andover Historical Society.

There are also a slew of branches too, or at least junctions with them you can incorporate such as the Wichendon branch, the connection in Leominster with the New Haven, and even the Maynard branch out of South Acton.

I tried downloading the DEMS for this region, but I'm having an awful time with it. It could be me and my lack of time keeping me from concentrating on what I need to look for.

What servers are you using?

If you need help, I can pitch in a little bit. I go out to Ashburnham often to visit the Frederick Collection www.frederickcollection.org on Route 101. I could gather some pictures around South Ashburnham where the Wichendon branch cuts off the main just about near Washington Hill.

This is the link that I use for the DEMs:

http://dds.cr.usgs.gov/srtm/version2_1/SRTM3/

The maps that you'd use are:N42W072.hgt.zip,
N42W073.hgt.zip,
N42W074.hgt.zip

and that covers the area from about Haverhill to Mechanicsville. Thanks for the advice, I was wondering how I should approach importing it into Trainz. I had pretty much decided to do it in sections, though.
Incidentally, I am using the USGS website for the topographic maps and georeferencing them. At this point I have gotten all of the DEMs,the georeferenced maps and routes done from Lowell to Orange. I think I'm going to continue east to Lawrence and incorporate some of the Western route as well. I don't know.... I'm not biting off too much am I?
