Drake City Network - Journey through the virtual country

Chapter 1

Fictional rail network on ?? hundreds of baseboards.
As the name says this is a network, not just one point-to-point route.
Here you find several mainlines as well as branchlines crossing the country in all directions. The challenge is to
create a session (read: schedule) which allows you as virtual passenger to make different journeys and jump from
one train into another connecting train at main junction stations.
The country has several enormous cities, and I must say a big 'thank you' to Dave Drake for making those fantastic
city blocks. Not only that it saves time to build, but for such a huge urbanisation I think the performance is
extremely good.
Okay, let's not talk so much at the beginning (I know this is the screenshot forum ), but better show some
pictures.

A local train waiting for departure in Russiatown:

The pictures above is all where it started. Originally I was building a route in east European style, but when the
first City blocks came, I totally rebuilt the layout, replacing all original houses except the Russian station
building in the very first town. (Now you know why I called this "Russiatown" ;) ).
At the moment there are over 50 railway stations on the map.

Calling at Wadesboro, 5 minutes later:

...and after 3 minutes at Chadron:

Approaching Drake City:

...and 7 minutes later we are finally (the end of chapter one) arriving at Drake City (covers 12 baseboards):

This is a junction station, with connections to Cooperstown, Russelville, Reading Grand Central, Olympia Central
and Terminal, or Arlington Central.

The Capital of my fictional country is Reading,a city which covers a total of 28 baseboards. It's the only city
which has a subway system (2 lines).

Simply Fantastic Pieter!

Very well done. I am glad that my creations have helped you create such a wonderful route. Keep on!

Cheers Dave

Thanks for the feedback!

Chapter 2a

DRAKE CITY - KIMBALLTON

Today we take the local train from Drake City to the south.

Screen_073.jpg

Just outside the station there's the choice of three destinations:

Screen_072.jpg

On the right is the branchline to Russelville,
in the middle the mainline to Reading Union, and on the left the mainline to Kimballton.
We follow the last one, and after some minutes we are approaching Drake South station.

...and entering the station.

Screen_076.jpg

After a short stop we continue our journey, and now we can enjoy the countryside.

Screen_079.jpg

Screen_080.jpg

Then there is the glimmering of a nice little town, called Martinville. Well, a pretty walk to the station, I should say!

We leave again, and oh yes, there was a little yard near a powerstation too.

Then jumping into nature again...

The next stop is coming soon, while
the Fast train to Cooperstown passes from the opposite direction.

Here we are in Burwell:

From this station a branchline is going east - haven't finished it yet - while the mainline splits into a section for Arlington Central and a section southwest to Olympia Central and Terminal.

Thanks!

Chapter 3a

Kimballton - Olympia

The picture below is Huntley, the first station after Kimballton on the mainline to Olympia.
The village centre is to the left, at the other end of a lake. (Sorry, no screen, I like the station more ;) )

Screen_104.jpg

Our next stop is Ronam. Also here the village is a bit away...

We 'll continue to our last stop in this chapter: Olympia Terminal Station, just 6 (train) minutes away from the Central Station.

We depart from the Olympia Central Station, which is an important junction and an excellent point for making connections
between trains. From here you can travel to the following directions:

-Olympia Terminal Station
-Kimballton
-Reading
-Lost Heaven
-Arlington and Toledo

We had the local train from Kimballton, which now follows its way to the Olympia Terminal Station.

Screen_120.jpg

We pass another DMU on a siding, waiting for the next run.

Screen_123.jpg

Just a few seconds before we go over this bridge, an express train from Reading Grand Central to Olympia South and
Lost Heaven passes on the lower track.

Screen_124.jpg

Maybe you shouldn't think this, but we are still in Olympia!

Screen_126.jpg

Approaching the terminal station:

Screen_129.jpg

Screen_033.jpg

...and finally, there we are...

Screen_131.jpg

We must say good-bye to the station...

Screen_134.jpg

and find something to do in Olympia...

Thank you for the kindly words! :)

The grass and weed on that picture is very nice. Can you tell us where it's from?

soundsmith

@:It's on the downloadstation. There are only three types of grass on that picture:
KUID: 148778:22016
KUID: 146087:27447
KUID: 146087:27101

New pictures in chapter 4 will follow very soon! :)
