Downloading DLS

In Spite off all the suggestions made by you people, I tried them all, downloading from the DLS is not working. From the contentstore it works fine, payware I can all download, but DLS not. Why??

To add to the post above from @Forester1 I regularly download from the DLS using Content Manager in TRS22 and, apart from the recent server outage, have not had any problems. No one else is reporting the issue that you have.

Since this is a new thread on the same problem then I will ask the same questions again for you to answer:-
  1. As asked by @Forester1 how are you trying to download? Using FTP, from the Web version of the DLS (the "White Pages"), does not work in modern web browsers because of its security risks.
  2. Have you added trs22.exe to the exclusion list of your antivirus program?
  3. Are you using a VPN? Some of them will block downloads from the DLS.
  4. What indications are you getting that the download has failed? Content Manger will give you error messages that could help diagnose the problem.

Probably because, according to the posts in your other thread on this problem, you are attempting to use an FTP client and your web browser to download the assets. As has been pointed out, the latest web browsers will not let you use FTP because it is a security risk.

The best method for downloading assets from the DLS is by using Content Manager which is built into Trainz.

Here is a video on how to download from the DLS using Content manager. The video is using TANE but the exact same steps work in TRS22.

First off I totally agree with Pware, Just download with CM. It is a thousand times easier.

Now so that everyone is on the same page. Let's look at the process for really using a ftp client for download.
1. Click on the link in the menu bar for DLS. That is what everyone calls the "White Pages".
2. Click on the locomotive button.
3. A list of items appear, look under the picture of the loco and there is a link labeled Download Page. Click it.
4. A popup window opens unless you are using an ad blocker.
5. Within that window are two blue buttons, neither of them work any more in most browsers. Just forget them.
6. Below the second blue button is some information you need.

File location on FTP Server:
/Restricted/trainz/TRAINZ2009/locomotives/kuid2_122285_300_8.cdp

This is the path to the file on the FTP server. You will need this to navigate to the file once you connect.

7. Further down the page is a section labeled Trouble Shooting. It lists the information you need to connect using an FTP client.
8. Note that your username is listed but there is a string of numbers and characters for the password. This is your password. Not your MyTrainz password or your forum password.

Note: This password is unique to your username. Do not show it to anyone and do not show it here in the forum.

Now unless your FTP client is brain dead, it should be able to connect.

BTW: I'm letting the Staff know about this thread. @N3VSupport so that if you are planning to do something stupid like trying to hack the FTP server or download everything on the server in one session month long session. They will know where to look first.

You should have posted this in your original thread, so you don't get a bunch of repeated advice and suggestions that did not work. To be clear, are you speaking of using CM (Content Manager), or using the white pages? How are you trying to download from DLS?
I used CM, I used it after starting TRS, I have used DLS from the webside, both ways (with ftp, a other browser) I don't get it to work.

What antivirus program are you using?

Did you allow TRS22.exe through your firewall?

Are you using a VPN?

Have you entered your username and password into TRS22 (Launcher Trainz Settings, MyTrainz tab)? They should be the same as the username (KSwag) and password you use for this forum.

I disabled my antivirusprogram and firewall. when these are enabled TRS works fine. I do not use VPN,I entered my username + ww. I have a FCT , wich is counting down without any use. I even used the way according to a video. nothing.

thanks for the video, but when I enter 4.0 in minimum build the complete list disappers

I have to admit I think if the maker of the video was going to use Minimum Build Version as a criteria he should have added the build version column. That example is really vague without it.

That means that there were no items in the original list that had build numbers of 4.0 or over. If the build version column is not showing, as @Forester1 mentioned above in relation to the video, then right click on any column heading, select Insert Column, then select Build Version. The build version numbers of all the listed assets will be shown. Each build version number corresponds to a particular Trainz version and SP/HF release.

4.0, for example, is TANE Community Edition 1.1 - see Trainz build number for the full list. So by setting the search filter to Minimum Build Version 4.0 you are excluding all assets designed for Trainz versions and SP/HF releases earlier than that. In the majority of cases, assets built for earlier versions of Trainz will still work in TRS22 but some may have performance issues.
