( 70 mile v1-----TRS2006 SP1 ) -------- a scenario taken from the DSL

I am using Tranz 2010 EE and have downloaded the above from the DSL, it doesn't seem to appear anywhere when I start trainz, the only place it does appear is in CMP, just after downloading the scenario I opened the download and committed it, I have tried downloading other scenarios and non of them appear in the list of scenarios when I start Tranz 2010 , is there something I'm doing wrong ?
I would be grateful for any guidance.

John,

Uncheck the Favorites star and see they show up then. The star allows you to show only what you want to see. The default is the built-in routes that come with TS2010.

thanks for that tip, unfortunately the scenarios I have downloaded still don't show up in the list, I thought at one stage it might be the fact that they are 2006 scenarios that are not compatible with Tranz 2010EE but I have the the compatibility mode switched on, the only other thing I've noticed is that when opening up and committing the scenarios I have downloaded there are always seems to be one or two faulty kuids / components maybe that is stopping them showing up ?
Thanks for your help so far

Hi,

I know this is going to sound silly, but:-

The scenarios are linked to a particular route - you do have the route downloaded as well?
(possibly the missing item is the route?)

Also, remember that sessions are found by highlighting the route on the start page (then => sessions) whereas scenarios have their own menu item.

Hi Colin,
thanks to your reply to my query, the thought had crossed my mind about (sessions) and you are right But what is the point of being able to download a scenario without having the ( route bit ) ??
to run it !!
If there is a way of downloading the " route" for a particular scenario could you explain it to me please.
Many thanks for your help so far
kind regards John.

Hi John,

I suppose the logic runs like this:-

I have Roseorth Vale installed. There are some 7 different scenarios for this, so I would ony need to download the ones I don't have (maybe one by one to see if I like them )

What should happen is that the scenario files should have the route listed as a dependency.
That way, when you download the scenario, the route should be added to the downloads as well.
(also happens for every asset - all the dependencies should be downloaded at the same time - occasionaly one has to hunt the Kuid!)

I've looked for this file in CM3.2 (TS2010) and both the route and session show as "Miscellaneous" - not a route and a scenario/session. That's a bit odd...
Using the DLS page ("Download" tab at the top of this forum), they both show up as a route and a scenario - with the correct dependencies...

I'd guess that there's something just a little awry with these assets.

I'm not sure if you have a FCT - if you do, then you can always try downloading bith the route and the scenario (Depends on which Trainz version you want it in!). If you don't there is a possibility that you've reached the download limit...

Sorry to show the problem - but it isn't you!

Cheers,

Colin

If CM3.2 shows there are any errors or missing dependencies it probably won't show up. Also, scenarios require a script which probably won't work in a later version of Trainz. What is the kuid of the scenario?

Hi John,

I did download this route and session last night - into 2010 which is the only version I use now.

in 2010, the sessions show up when you select a route, then follow the right arrow to the session section.

It does show up in 2010 as a route and a session (you need to download both items with the same name), however there are some problems:-
(remember that my 2010 is set up for compatibility mode off - so some content won't display).

none of the consists display (possibley because of compatibility mode)

The first action by driver "Ami" is to drive to an industry - however this shows up as a red cross. That means that there is no route to this industry - that needs to be solved (usually there is a set of points without a lever - but it could be a miniscule gap in the tracks - anything that breaks the continuity of the track).

If you open the session for edit - you'll possibly see some ofthe problems directly - you can fix them, but because it's someone eles's route/session, you can't upload them to the dls (Terms & conditions).

Hi Colin,
when you say you downloaded this route and session last night , are you referring to--- `70 mile version 1` Kuid 240443:1017
Description 70 mile desert run with four industries

I too am only using 2010 EE , with the compatibility mode switched on !
The scenario shows up in the CMP v3.2 has having missing dependencies and faulty dependencies , I have opened them for edit and committed and them but they still don't show up in the game, is the problem that they have faulty dependencies and am I just wasting my time with that particular scenario ?
Regards John

`70 mile version 1` Kuid 240443:1017

First of all, the kuid you quote is incorrect.
You mean 240543:1017.

Also, that kuid refers to the scenario for the route.
Have you downloaded the route (kuid 240543:1016), and all dependencies that the route needs?

To run a Scenario or a Session, you need to download the session/scenario and all content needed by it, and the route it runs on with all the content that it requires.
That's a minimum.

Once you've done all that, you are ready to run it.
As Colin has already stated, you may come across things that TS2010 burps at.
The scenario was written for TRS2006, so there's always the chance that the scripting goalposts have moved, and that scripts won't act as they should in later versions.

From your posts, it's not clear that you've downloaded the route and all dependencies to go with the session, which you will need to do.

Smiley.

Hi Smileyman,

Many thanks for your reply , "you need to download the session/scenario", the route is showing up in the CMPV3.2 as having faulty dependencies , the session is showing up in the CMPV3.2 as having missing dependencies, I have downloaded both kuid:240543:1016 and kuid:240543:1017 and guess that it will never work in 2010EE.
thanks for your help

If you want to fix it, here is how.
Route 70 mile v1,<kuid:240543:1016> has this dependency kuid - grain,<kuid:240543:1006> with these errors:
Error: Texture 'HjulMonsterBump.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'silokomplex.im'.
Error: Texture 'Weiss.texture' is missing or could not be loaded for mesh 'silokomplex.im'.
and a bunch of these warnings - Warning: The *.texture.txt file is missing for texture resource...
Checked the mesh file with PEV's Mesh-Text-Viewer and see textures applied in wrong slots.
Ran PEV's PM2IM
Saved and Commit ok
Session 70 mile v1,<kuid:240543:1017> has dependency error in TOFC 89ft FlatCar TTX1,<kuid:126855:100891>
The flatcar has 1 error line in each load queue. Opened the kuid for Edit in Explorer and opened the config.txt file in Notepad to delete:
single "40' rear"
single "40' front"
single "53'"
single "28' rear"
single "28' front"
single "28' middle"
Saved and closed the config.txt file.
The flatcar also has these errors:
Error: Unable to load primary texture 'oretest_body/oretest.tga' for texture file 'oretest_body/shortcont.texture.txt'.
Error: Binary conversion failed for texture resource 'oretest_body/shortcont.texture.txt'.
Error: Unable to load primary texture 'oretest_body/ttx89base.tga' for texture file 'oretest_body/ttx89base.texture.txt'.
Error: Binary conversion failed for texture resource 'oretest_body/ttx89base.texture.txt'.
Error: Unable to load primary texture 'oretest_body/yellow.tga' for texture file 'oretest_body/yellow.texture.txt'.
Error: Binary conversion failed for texture resource 'oretest_body/yellow.texture.txt'.
These errors due to no corresponding graphic file for the texture.txt files. Expanded the oretest_body folder to deleted these unused files:
shortcont.texture.txt
ttx89base.texture.txt
yellow.texture.txt
Closed and commited.
CM3.2 still shows an error:
Error: The Tag 'filename' is not permitted within a container of type 'traincar'.
Opened Edit in Explorer and opened the config.txt file to delete:
filename "oretest"
saved and commit ok
70 mile v1,<kuid:240543:1017> and 70 mile v1,<kuid:240543:1016> are now error free.
Ran the session which has 4 consists running in AI mode to load, drive, unload, etc. and repeat forever.
This route is a flat desert with 4 industries and lots of desert shrub plants, including some in the middle of the tracks.

Thanks for your reply Bob,
I'll have a go with it when I get the time, not being very familiar with correcting mistakes it may take me some time to understand even though you've done your very best to simplify the procedure.
There seems to be an awful lot of postings regarding trainz 2010 and its intolerance to less than perfect downloads.
I have by the way switched on the compatibility mode which often helps I'm told.
Anyway thanks once again to you and everybody else who tried to help me with this problem, hopefully the next version of trains will automatically reject or fail to install anything from the download station that is less than perfect in the scripting. (Although I don't think I should hold my breath) for that version to come out.
Every time a new version of trainz comes out I have purchased it but in spite of 2010EEs sophistication my favourite still remains the 2004 version, all it lacked was a really good up-to-date graphics engine.
