Important question - are you running Windows Vista or 7 instead of an earlier version (XP etc)?
If the answer to this is yes, Trainz needs to be installed and run as an administrator (Windows Vista/Windows 7 should install it as administrator, but you will need to explicitly tell Windows to run Trainz as Administrator.
To do this, right click the Trainz shortcut, then choose Properties. Click the Compability tab, then tick the box at the bottom labelled 'Run this program as an administrator' (If the Compatibility tab is not visible, click the Advanced button on the Shortcut tab, then tick the run as administrator box.
If you are not running Windows Vista or Windows 7, Trainz may need re-installing (also make sure Trainz is running on a computer administrator account not a limited account)

I'm running Win Vista 32Bit. I have never had to run TRS2006 in compatability mode or as an administrator either. Not being able to download started one week ago and continues thru today. It seems im not the only one. Downloads go fine until it lands on the CMP it then shows Current Speed: 0.00 bps no matter what I try to download.
Right now I am giving some serious thought of deleting TRS2006 and reinstalling it. A ton of work involved but after a full week of this situation im ready for anything. If it still doesnt work after that then I'll be certain that its Auran thats causing it.

Might still be worth trying CMP/TRS2006 in admin mode first (It should then register the Trainz URL registry key)
Once that is done, check the Username/Password are entered correctly, and that the proxy server settings are set correctly - might be worth deleting the username/password from the box, closing and re-opening CMP, then re-entering the username/password)

Double-check that you are running Trainz in admin mode - you should get a yes/no or continue/cancel (or a box requesting your admin account password) if it is.
If it is not, it can be activated by right-clicking the shortcut and choosing Run As Administrator.
Admin rights are required for CMP to operate correctly on XP,Vista and Windows 7 due to increased security that prevents programs accessing the registry and files in the Program Files/Program Files (x86) folder.
To set the admin rights on a more permanent basis, read my post on the 'service packs' article.

DS is down
The DS is down. I have tried all day to download assets using both DownloadHelperPro and the ftp option. All I get is 'Page not found' on every assets I try.
Damned nuisance, I need those DS roads for the new section.
So this new server worked for about a week before curling its toes up and dying! Not very impressive....

I just tried with CMP in 2006 & TC, it connects fine. But when downloading it says it is, but it just sits there ,nothing shows in the network speed box too. Other people are also having the same trouble.http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=54603 No doubt the new servers are having a few teething troubles.

It's a different kind of won't work. The whistle blows, the little red
arrow starts its animation, but nothing happens. Download rate remains
at 0 bytes and the download does not happen. This even tho it looks like
something is downloading.
I use a bandwidth monitor and it shows no activity.
C-Ports does show a connection to Auran but it drops out after
about 60 seconds with only the default CMP conection remaining.
This is probably because in inactivity in the download.
This has been going on now for 3 days. Sure hope its fixed soon.
By the way, downloading via DLS using FTP works just fine.
This will take a lot longer and requires more work than using the
download helper.
