Download Station Server Full

Just bought and installed TS2010 on laptop. So far so good! However everytime I try to download something I'm getting Server Full message. Given that there's only one UK route on TRs2010 , I really want to download more, so this really isn't very satisfactory. Am I doing anything wrong?:o

Is there a way of transferring all the content I had installed with TRS2004 to 2010?

All the answers you seek have already been covered on these fourms many times.

I suggest you do a bit of reading of older postings and also use the search function

A FCT might be the answer Russ. I think it works out at around 6 or 7 cents a day!!! Yes, you can import TRS2004 content into TS2010. There are plenty of posts in the forum on how to do it, and some possible pitfalls. (compatibility mode, faulty assets, etc).

Cheers, Mac...

2010

Thanks guys . Suppose I'll buy a FCT. But it is annoying as they do say buying TRS2010 will give you access to Download station- really it doesn't! Makes you wonder if its worthwhile continuing on. Not the greatest first impression generated!

And as for user friendliness- this game really isn't. Why isn't there a guide to transferring content from previous versions to TRS2010. You would have thought a significant proportion of those buying, if not the majority would already have had previous versions. So transferring content must be a fairly frequent event. Yet no mention in the instructions!

I've had this problem as well, the DLS saying its full. I just keep trying and sometimes the download goes through.

I'm new to the series as well, 2010 being my first Trainz and really liking it.

I hope you are able to fix your troubles and enjoy your locos. :)

I'd agree on the unfriendliness at first, but with every new download you can learn more. :)

Now theres a name I believe I recongise from Rail3D! Anyway, yes, TS2010 does allow you access to the DLS, but the problem you have is that there are all sorts of other people downloading stuff from the DLS at the same time who don't want to pay for a first class ticket. The trouble is you have people that want to download something from the DLS at 4kbs (the maximun speed or thereabouts) and then when you do the maths to think about it, you then have to ask yourself "How much does it cost?".

Lets assume 100 users are downloading 100mb, which is the maximun daily limit, thats 10GB a day of bandwidth. My hosting package for www.wessexelectricnut.co.uk is around £60 p/a and for that I think I get a monthly bandwidth allowance of 30-40GB a month IIRC, which would last you 4 days. so, lets assume a month is 28 days, Auran on my service provider would have to pay....

... £460 a year, or so for 100 users to download 100mb, just to ensure that each user would get enough bandwidth. Which reminds me, something I have to look into on my site when I finally host that 200mb worth of content.
(its only a represnetation, its most likely going to be more than this as Aurans stuff would probably require a specalist server for the job, or "virtualised server" I think its called and several Network Attached Storage devices.)

Because FCT customers pay, both limits on download speed and download limits are removed and you get to download straight away, rather than put into a queue or refused a connection, which is very simliar to a lot of file sharing sites.

Yep, fairly frequent, but it can be done easily. That is, in Content Manager Plus, Click File, Click import content, navigate to your previous installation and look for a folder thats called "User Data" then "local" or just simply "local" (TRS2004 and earlier I think everything is in world/dispatcher, but I maybe wrong), then click select folder, then you should get a window up telling you what is being imported. It does however, take a long time and you should get a box telling you how much is being imported.
Oh, yes, I do agree, the documentation on Content Manager Plus and Content Creator Plus is very poor.

You should be able to find more detailed instructions by using the forum search function however, as mine are very generic.

Thanks WEN. Yep old hand from Trainz UK here. Love your multiple units . The 117 is a must have upload from my TRS2004 collection.

Thanks for taking time to explain upload!
