does the Trainz have to be on the same hard drive as the asset files?

You can place your Trainz data on another hard drive. Should you need to reinstall, your fresh install will find your data and come right up. What's good about this is should your system drive crash or need to be reformatted, you won't lose any content. You'll need to select your data folder when you reinstall Trainz because the the redirect file no longer exits, but that's easy to do anyway.

I installed trs22 on my edrive and copied the data to a file call traindata you will have to log on with username and password. change your installation to e:\traindata\trs22
Do a data rebuild. be aware purchased content on this drive cannot be erased {uninstalled )

Open your Trainz Launcher, click the "Trainz Settings" button, then select the "Install" tab. Click on the button about halfway down that says "Instructions for moving your content..." It will tell you exactly how to move the asset files (build folder) to another location. You will want a large and hopefully fast drive, as these can grow up to a terabyte or more as you accumulate lots of routes and assets.

You explaind it better than I did. Yes, that's correct if you are moving an existing install and this is the same with a very fresh install in a fresh Windows install. If TRS22 is being reinstalled on an existing Windows OS, then it'll pick up the information in the redirect-text file that I can't remember the name of right now because I'm old.

actually i have trs 19 on the d drive. but the e drive (4tb) has all the kuids and hash folders. the problem is it wouldn't except the hash folders. i have been trying with the CDR folders but i have to use the kept downloads sincR i don't have all the CDR folder made yet. i kinda remembered that we used the hash folders. didn't work this time.
probably done something wrong?
okay i will try the above and see if i can do this with the hash folders. been a while

Don't touch the folders. This may be what's causing you problems. If you want to use that data, you can connect that data folder in TRS19. Once connected, an EDR will run and add that content to the database.

If you have an existing working data folder, you can use File ---> Import Content Folder and the contents of the Hash folder will be imported into your existing database.

i'm at a loss. the hash folders are already on the e drive. how do i get trainz 19 to use them.

You can:

1) Set up a new user-data folder.
You'll need to put in your username and password and install any DLC if you have any.

This is a simple set up more or less like you just installed except you've installed your DLC.

In Content Manager:
Click on File on the menu bar.
Click Import Content Folder

Browse in the Explorer window that opens up to your other user-data folder.
Click on local and select that.

Thise Local folder will be imported to the correct location.

Repeat this again with the original folder.

Once imported, run a database repair.

2) (not recommended but it does work)

Since you know how to use File Explorer.

Open up the old user data folder.
Select Local and copy that.

Open up the new user datafolder.
Paste the local folder in there.

You will be asked if you should skip or overwrite. Choose skip and anything you don't have will be imported. This will save a lot of time.
Repeat the same process again with the original folder.

Run a dabase repair to import all the content.

I've used this method when setting up test environments.

unfortunately i have to reinstall the game and need to find where to find it with n3v.
the train store won't open to my trainz or anything like membership to get the game back. i have spent almost 4 days trying to get onto the 4tb drive because of windowed warnings.
where are the digital downloads located?
thanks

never mind i found the download.
also the superliner for 24.95. but it seems you have to join a gold membership which is roughly 60 dollars. so the superliner set would actually cost 85.00 dollars?

Gold membership, which is an annual $US60 fee on top of your annual Trainz Plus subscription, gives you free access to all DLC. So if you join Gold and only download the Superliner and nothing else then its cost is $US60 (the Gold membership fee). But, as well as the Superliner, if you download any number of other DLC items, then the total cost is still $US60. There is currently over $US4,000 of DLC available with more added each year.

Addendum: I should make it clear that you can only access all the free (after your $US60 annual membership fee) DLC stuff while you are a Gold member. If you drop your gold membership then all your Gold DLC downloads will become unusable unless you reactivate your membership again. Any DLC you purchase, before and even during your Gold membership (you can still do that while being a Gold member) will still be available to you.

As a GOLD member you also get a 25% discount on DLC purchases while the subscription is valid
