DLS Down again?

I don't seem to be having trouble downloading from the DLS but I do have a FCT.

So what's the point of Content Manager then ?
If you buy a package, you expect the WHOLE package to work, not just bits of it.

Excuses don't cut it.

As of 2:40 EST it's still down. This is kind of a pain seeing as I was downloading dependencies for some routes that I just installed.

As of 1940 UK time, the Black Pages are sporadic. CM still offline.
Correction. CM 2.0 and CM 3.7 both kick in eventually.

Figured it was down yesterday (Sat) when I went to download a few bits and CMP wouldn't talk to the DLS. Still, on the bright side at least it avoided CMP going into a white screen meltdown and the subsequent 20 mins of thumb twiddling during the inevitable QDR.

Having just renewed my FCT though it is a bit irksome that at least some of the money (and N3V have been getting quite a lot lately, what with Kickstarter and T:ANE pre-orders too) isn't going into making things a bit more robust on the DLS side.

Well I for one am pleased I have a FCT at least I can catch up with any downloads by leaving CM running overnight without hitting the 100MB cap.

The servers being down is not so much an irritation but every time I start Trainz it has to verify all of my installed content which is irritating and basically renders Trainz unusable till it is done, I get tired of waiting every single time. Also why does it seem to happen on a holiday/weekend?

It's the luck and power of Murphy that it happens on a weekend and a holiday weekend to boot. I too went through the big validation process because of this.

As of 23:21 BST Aug 31 here in the UK my login on CM 3.7 is recognised after being out nearly all weekend, but I appear to still have no verification of my DLC such as S&C.

I am missing two kuids that are suppossed to be in the DLS. I guess the issues with the servers are the reason they are not showing up when I search for them?

C

What are they? If you tell us, we can probably help you locate them even if they are on the DLS, they may also be somewhere else such as TPR.

Actually Zec, all you need is one guy who can pick up the phone to yell at SoftLayer. ;)

Not as simple as that.

To be able to provide 24/7 monitoring of the servers, you'll need at least 3 people (if they're willing to work 12 hours per day...). This is two people working 12 hour shifts monitoring the helpdesk, and then another person to cover one of the other two in case of illness/etc.

As it is, this just simply isn't possible. Most of our team has multiple tasks that they perform, including our admin, which means he works mostly during business hours. Under normal circumstances he is contactable during normal 'waking' hours in Aus, but he's not contactable 24/7 (he does sleep after all).

As it is, our server stability has been quite good this year. It's about as stable as most other websites I use, I've even seen around the same number of major outages (down for more than an hour or so) with Facebook this year. Unfortunately, our server issues tend to be a bit more visible at times, due to them being visible in-game in some situations.

I have, however, spoken with our team this morning about this. The server issues experienced this weekend were due to the promotion of Trainz Driver for iPhone. With 500,000 new users our servers were stretched to the limits. We have therefore extended the cut-off period for Download Station access for existing users of TS2009/2010 by a week.

Hello John.... I mentioned one of them in another post you commented on. :)

1. 52ft bulkhead cars: <kuid2:82412:20111:1> Products-Log-Stack-50-01

2. 52ft gondolas: <kuid2:64577:31053:1> FET Ballast

I got this info from this site which shows both of them should be in the DLS: http://www.trainzkuidindex.com/

What do you mean? The admins aren't supposed to eat, sleep or take holidays! :D (Just kidding of course!)

I used to do that, and in the old days carried a pager which would usually go off during a very nasty snowstorm, yeah we get that up here where I am, and usually at 3:00 am when the roads weren't plowed clear so what would be a 30 minute drive turned into 3-1/2 hours one time. Eventually we got PC-Anywhere which allowed me to remotely access the systems and even power them down in the event of a bad storm if there were predictions of long-periods of power outages, or perform other tasks from my comfy office chair via VPN. At other times I even got calls from the CEO regarding support while I was out severe storm chasing in the Midwest. I was on my cell phone then riding across the middle of Montana where the cell phone access is a bit spotty while attempting to recite commands to the staff back at the office.

I'm retired now from this, and I surely don't miss it! I'm glad and very grateful the admin was able to get the systems back in order.

These show up as built-in assets in my version. There is also an updated one available. <kuid2:82412:20111:2> & <kuid2:64577:31053:2>. Search the DLS for this KUID and see what you come up with.

The kuid search site said that both of these are built into Trainz 2010 but I get this message when I check the
content creator plus file:

"The kuid '<kuid2:82412:20111:1>' is not in the database, and could not be found in any known location, ensure that this is a valid asset."

I'm not sure what is wrong.

As of 16:00 hrs UK BST September 1 CM 3.7 recognises my login but in Trainz my paid DLC does not show up and when I go to "Redownload all purchased content" the error comes up that I cannot communicate with the app store. So, while I congratulate N3V on 500,000 sales of Driver I am not happy that it seems to be at the cost of crippling my installation of TS12.

2014-09-01, 17.30 MEZ, the content manager of my TS12SP1, build 61388, is still out of order, that is no connection with the DLS. TS12, build 49922, is running.
