Disable DS assets in Trainz 2006?

osq7

Confused
I was just wondering if you could stop assets from the download station displaying in Trainz 2006. Is this possible?

There is another way!

If you set the "search pane" to display:-
Line 1:- Location Local
Line 2:- Name (blank)

You will see only the content on your computer (downloaded & built in)

It you want only the Built-in, change the second line to "built-in"
If you want only the local downloaded content (but not built-in)
change the scond line to "not equal" to "built-in" (that's the equals sign with a line through it).

By selecting different search parameters you can narrow down a lot of assets.
Also remember that you can click on a heading to sort (e.g. click on the authorid to sort alphabetically by creator.

what i have, on my machine, what i do, and it came about unintentionally, and before i got a hold of trainz, but i'm glad it did and i have every intention of keeping it that way, is my system setting for loging on to the net is a dummy one that goes to a log in account with my isp that doesn't exist.

the only way i can dial out to connect to the net, is to use the connection that exist ONLY in the manually dial out settings.

this way, NOTHING on my computer can automatically connect to the net without my telling it to.

of course the combination of this, and not having service pack one for my 2006 means that the only way i can download cdp's from the dls, or anywhere else, is by using fire fox's built in ftp.

which as i've stated before, is fine with me.

personally i just plain don't trust ANYthing, that will have my computer connecting to the net, without my telling it to.

cmp still trys of course, and gives me a big red flag boo hoo accross the bottem of its page that says it can't, and then still wastes cpu cycles trying to every time i open it untill i reboot, which i have to after every log in anyway since that seems to be the only way i can get disconnected from my isp.

Colprice2002, I mean when you search for DS assets nothing comes up.Today 09:13 AM

I'm sorry - I'm not understanding....

Are you searching the DLS or your local drive?
Are you trying to see the DLS?

Right. I shall get this straight.

What I want to is assets that are on the DS not to display in CMP. However I still want to use the download helper and be logged in.

Hi,

OK!

Using the CMP (that's built in to 2006):-

Use the Search pane (LH panel)
Set the first box (pull down menu) to read "location" the default entry in the box just to the right should read "local"

That's it.

Cheers,

Colin

In 2006 there is no way to stop CMP from updating the DLS assets file when you enter ( if this is indeed your query) !
I have however written a batch file (strictly for my personal use ), which fools CMP into thinking CMP is up to date ! It was a simple program .
I tried very hard to work out a solution with CMP's behavior , I had a few posts that were helpful , but mostly they were negative . With the help of one other member's info via e-mail, I was able to fool CMP , something Auran could have done at anytime and it would have been a small download , not a patch ! They elected to move onto TS2009 with their energy , and I am disappointed that they did not spend just a little more time on solving the problems of CMP , but I am counting the days 'til 09 !!

I've found a way to stop the DS assets displaying in CMP.

On a fresh installation, enter your user details in OPTIONS. Then go to 'Cache' in your Trainz 2006 folder, go to internet, then delete the all files EXCEPT the .txt file. When you use the download helper DS assets will come up as 'Unknown Location (?)
