Difficulty Purchasing Trainz

I made an effort to purchase Trainz Simulator 2010 Engineers Editiion today. The credit card I used (which is actually in perfectly good order) was rejected twice. I clicked the option to pay with PayPal but when I got to PayPal it said that the link was an old link and no longer worked. I currently have an order pending awaiting PayPal processing - which will never happen since I never was allowed to log in to PayPal using the link. I suppose I could try to re-order but did have a discount coupon which is tied up in the prior transaction attempt. Anyone having such problems and knowing how to solve them? Thank you!:(

Hi,

I've not had that problem exactly, however if you contact the helpdesk with your order/invoice number in the header I'm sure they can de-tangle it for you.

Sam,

Try logging into PayPal seperately for the processing. This may help avoid the broken link.

Otherwise as Colin said, contact the Helpdesk. Zec surely can assist you with this problem. Just remember, they are in Australia and are about 14 hours difference from the eastern timezone.

Thanks for the help. I did get an email this morning with a new link which did work. Now, I am having trouble downloading. When I run setup, it asks me to insert a disk. Since I have the download version, there is no disk so when I click okay, it says the disk is not found or something like that and I cannot go beyond that point.

Did you download all of the data files or did you just download the setup.exe?

Caution about paying and downloading.
I'd just go into a store like Future Shop and ask them when Trainz 2010 Engineer's Edition on disk becomes available. My version (TRS2006) came on a disk, and I am relictant to buy games that are on disk because if anything happned to my computer (i.e. it crashes and I have to reinstall everything) I might not be able to get the game back without paying a whole lot of money.

Download Progress and Questions

Well, it did download the setup file and then later I went back and when I hit Download it downloaded the setup-1a.bin file. Obviously there are more that I need but do not know how to get them. Perhaps when I return and hit download, it will let me have the next one. It really can't be this difficult for everyone or I think Trainz would be out of business.

Download Completed

I finally did manage to get all of the pieces of the puzzle I believe to get it at least up and running. I looked at the address of the download and altered the filename from 1-a to 1-b 1-c, etc and then to 2-a, 2-b, etc till I finally seem to gotten all of the files, since it did install. I know I must have gone about this the hard way but hopefully I can now move forward - hoping the next steps will be a little less vague than the first ones.:)

Hi Toren,

If you purchase the on-line version (I bought the Settle & Carlisle - only available by download) there's nothing to prevent you from burning the downloaded files onto DVD (and labelling it with the content & licence number).

I did that with the S&C - and re-installed it quite happily. It's one of the things I do when I pruchase any on-line software - make a backup first!

Regards,

Colin

Sam.

Make sure you put all the downloads in a single folder.

On your order history page in Planet Auran, is your serial number. Copy that information to a text file - highlight the text, open up notepad, and paste it. Save the text file with your downloads, and burn everything to disk. This will save you time, should you need to reinstall it again because everything will be there, and you won't need to go on the net to search for it. When I reinstalled the program after a new PC build, I simply opened the text file, and copied the serial number and pasted into the field in the install screen.

I'm glad you got the download issues resolved.

Thanks!

Thanks John. It is simply an amazing simulation. I recently purchased a new desktop machine with the Intel i7 and a nice large LED screen and it is totally unbelievable. I feel I can step into the screen and onboard. Thank you for the good backup advice and I have already taken care of that because I do not wish to reinvent this wheel. All the best!
