DEM ( Digital Elevation Model) needed of NY State area.

JointedRail Cust. Service
I'm looking for a DEM of a certain area of NY dating back to about the 1950's if its even possible. I'm working with a few people to recreate a railroad that went out of business just about that time frame. Some Old ROW is visible on Google Earth but thats about whats left.

Anyone willing to do something such as this? If we can get something we can work with for route building that would be great.

We are willing to pay for such a thing so any serious inquiries, please PM or email me and I will get you more information.

We're not working on this for a payware release for the community, its actually going to be for this certain railroads Historical Society. This could be somewhat of a new realm for TRS as I've never seen a route recreated and then used by a RR Historical Society.

PM or Email me if you could help us out as this is the only thing were lacking for working on this project! I'll then talk specifics with you via PM or Email

Thanks in advance!

Mods: if this is in the wrong place ( dont think it is) lemme know before you move it please!!

New York Ontario and Western (NYO&W) Were doing a test section first, and then possibly the whole thing if they like it enough.

ah
the ol' NYO&W.
If it already hasnt been done, i can do some skins of the F3As and the NW2s.
Cheers,
Sean

We'll be doing these more than likely as this is more of a private venture for the O&W Historical Society than a publicly available one.

Have you checked DLS? CincySouthernRwy did some NYO&W locomotives and some modules of certain areas in NY.
I presume you are doing an area in the northern part? If you are flexible on area, there are a couple of DEMs on DLS that have some portion of the railroad on it though I'll bet the Tiger lines won't show the NYO&W line. Port Jervis includes the old Erie line now NS and some NYSW from Cornwall to Four Story Junction, not sure how wide it is but NYO&W had a line in that area. There's also a DEM for Delaware-Lackawanna including Scranton where NYO&W also connected.

well, if you ever want to relive the NYO&W, drive on NYS state route 17, now interstate 81. That covers most of the abandoned NYO&W line the whole way.
Cheers,
Sean

This thread is only 4 1/2 yrs old.

Wondering how things are coming along?

Cheers,

Bill.

It's dead. I never got anywhere with this other than a baseboard or two and the group lost interest in having it done. Sorry guys.

Don't forget us little guys! :) NYOW2000 and CincySouthernRwy both did a lot of UTC compatible routes, rolling stock and scenery for the NYO&W! Last time I was back in Central Square, the whole family went to the Central Square Station Museum. I know you guys can't do routes for UTC but I'd still be glad to help!

Thanks!

This might be a good project to do, just for the sake of doing like the Reading and RBMN lines. The new tools we have too such as TransDEM, the new seamless server, and the really new not quite born yet tool from MJ, make the process a little less painful than before.
