Default switch lever?

Getting version 2.2 of my route prepped for upload, working on a tedious task that I've been putting off - going over all the CNR switchstands to check for incorrect aspects. :sleep: It just occurred to me, the way I've been doing this is to lay track, and after finishing an area I use the Replace Assets tool to swap the default switch levers for CNR Switchstand Main 3, then tediously going over all of those checking that they show green for straight and red for diverge, flipping them around or changing to CNR Switchstand Main 4 if the clearance requires having them on the wrong side.

It would be SO much easier if CNR Switchstand Main 3 was used instead of the default switch lever, so every time I made a new switch I could instantly see what the switch target indicator showed. With that in mind, anyone know of an option or file to hack which will change the default switch lever to another type?

Edit the region you are using. In the config file there is a "defaultjunction". Change the to the kuid of the junction you want.

Koughl stough!

Thanks, that works like a champ! Wish I had thought about asking six months ago when I started the route. :o

OT, I was in HS-75 at NAS Willow Grove about 30 years ago, did some kicking around in Bensalem occasionally. :wave:

Step one, holler "FIRE IN THE HOLE!"

Dunno if that's a good idea, if you're not an experienced enough hacker to figure it out yourself, you may blow up your house. :hehe: Hackers Creed is to always make backups, what I do is create a new folder named C:\Backup, then go into the Auran folder and copy the entire \TS2010 and/or TS12 folder to the backup folder. That way if something does blow up I just need to delete the original folder and copy the one from the backup.

In this case we're hacking a default built in file, so there's an easier fix if you screw it up - set the content manager search filter for built in = true, locally modified = true, select the asset you trashed and Edit, Revert to Original and it's all fixed again.

So, first step (after checking that you have a fully charged CO2 extinguisher handy) is to find the region.

Author Auran, Built in True, keyword "united" gets me the US and UK regions, being a Yankee Doodle type I'll hack the USA.

Having previously selected the switchstand asset I want to replace the lever with and copied the KUID into a text file, I open the United States region for edit in explorer, open the config.txt with notepad, copy the KUID number from the text file into the config.txt to overwrite the defaultjunction tag. Save exit;

Edit, commit, Yes Dear, I know and I'm sure. :p

Open route in surveyor, select edit route from the main menu, we wanna change this one anyway since the Mojave ain't in China unless they moved it recently. Once I set the region to the one I hacked;

Every new switch I make will get my selected switchstand by default. :cool:

They closed NAS Willow Grove a couple of years ago. Now the locals are fighting over what to do with the place.
