M mp202 Active member Jan 20, 2013 #2 The Dash 9 and AC4400 are obviously not the same locomotives. They may have the same appearance as do most wide cab locomotives but their engines are what makes them different.

Actually they ARE the same, just a variation on the original design. The EMD GP7 and GP9 also have similar bodies for the same reason.
