Custom Station "drive To"

I was wondering how to make my station appear in the "drive to" driver command it is a custom station with station objects in surveyor

thanks

it is a passenger station i have tried just naming it
if i place a prebuilt station there is no problem but i want to build a custom one

Have you tried placing a track mark on the track directly in front of the station and naming it?

The normal red track marks are all you need for this, as long as they're facing in the correct direction trains travel in for that line. Otherwise, you may find the AI driver won't like travelling there (or they may take a route to it that it's not supposed to take). :D

Hmmm I,m going to have to experiment with that one. A trackmark stop and load leads to other possibilities. I,ll post back after I try.

Are you using the AJS custom stations? You have to make sure track and platforms are attacked to the AJS station template (the only platforms I found that will fit are the AJS ones but these can be dressed up with other assets that are out there). Although the named AJS station should still show up in drive to window without attaching platforms but you can't lenghen the platforms if you click on the '?' button on the AJS station template in suvayer.

Hope this helps

:D

If you don't have the AJS station templates then search under AJS on the DLS (these are very very very usefull although they are set at UK 3.5 meters track centre and don't think it can be changed)

If the AJS station kit isn't what you want to use, you can also replace a stretch of track and use one of them built in basic industry thingies, set it to handle passengers.

Now thats an idea, I never thourght of that. I think you answered the threat I just started.

tried it with some cars with opening doors The trains stops ok at the station but ignores the load command at the trackmark. I used invisible station 50M which works well. There is an answer however, somewhere on the DLS is a small 3 or 4 MTR industry track. I will clone that and pass enable ( if not already). Then I can have trains stop anywhere in the middle of a paddock and load. What about a simulated train robbery on one of the old west routes. The mind boggles.

thanks guys

your ideas seem really good!

i think somehow you can change an object to behave like a station by changing the scripting but i cant seem to make that work
i will try some of your ideas

i found the problem with the invisible station and it now works but it is only one length: 50m and it might prove problematic when i change the shape of the station as it has to be between 2 tracks in sort of a rounded diamond shape

Island platforms are a bit hard to model, yes. We have quite a few available on the DLS, but I have not seen the type of island platform that starts narrow, widens out in the middle and ends narrow again, like you would find in a small (reasonably new) station between two tracks on a mainline. There the track spacing gets wider and a platform is set inbetween in a manner where goods and/or express trains can just pass through at max line speed without having to slow down. There's a built-in station that sort of does that, but it has one side straight and the other side is bent too much so it blocks a high speed pass. Instead of a "D" shape, you'd want a "()" shape. (But then more elongated of course.)

Edit: hey now! Someone deleted his/her post so now my answer to that particular post is looking a bit out of the blue... "where the heck does that come from!?" :hehe:

There are plenty of basic stations on the dls ive got 40m, 60m and 80m ones and others go up to 260m. Island platforms are easy to do, all you need is a platform with one side and place them back to back. One set of platforms also has platform with no edges so you can make your station even wider.
kuid 202010 and kuid 283805 are two such creators.

I add two trackmarks at each station: one for, say, the eastbound side, and the other for westbound side. Here's an example on the Marias Pass Approach route: "Shelby Depot Westbound," and "Shelby Depot Eastbound." Name all your depots, and include the depot name in the trackmark names, plus the point where you want locos going in different directions to stop.

Hope this helped.

The main thing i wanted to find out is if i could make a custom station with platforms and signs, station building and it show up in drive to and when i stop the doors open
your ideas are great
thanks
