CSX Transportation installs inward-facing cameras on CSXT801 [Article]

I really wish folks knew how to use their brain instead of ruining it for everyone else. I may be halfway close to my $6,800 SUV, but after that I'll only have enough to pay car insurance and the likes, so who knows when I'll get a GPS if cellular devices are banned by then.

Keep in mind that a GPS is different since you can't communicate with it. Some vehicles have these built in as part of the "package". When I got my new Jeep Liberty in 2010, I opted not to have one since I have a relatively good sense of direction. More recently I borrowed one from a friend. It proved useful for part of the trip, but overly annoying because it told me the directions too close to where I had to make the decision to be in the proper lane.

That's nice for people my age who are spoiled brats, but my parents are making me pay for this myself, so I'm on my own and I have to get what I can afford. Those weren't available in 2003 I believe so the vehicle I'm looking at doesn't have it.
Such, I'm looking forward to using my cellular phone for that with the Google Maps app.
That's just about the only thing I'll use my phone for however.
I say ban communications with cell phones, but allow use for GPS and maps.

*It's also worth noting that I also need a bit of cash to put my commercial two-way VHF radio in the car too for railfanning and ham radio use.

I'm no young brat.. :) I have been driving since 1979 and I'm now retired. The Jeep is expensive, believe me, and I wouldn't have a car payment if I didn't need to replace my 10-year old Celica I had before it. That vehicle had trouble climbing out of my driveway in the winter because it is about a 6.5% grade! I have about another year of payments and I'm payment free again!

I doubt it if you'll find a GPS in a car that old, although for that amount of money, you could find a nice newer vehicle than that. Keep this in mind when vehicle searching.

That is a good use for a mobile device and it's probably a lot better than I experienced a few years ago. I tried that once with my (don't laugh too loudly) work-supplied Blackberry Curve. The speed on the updates was so slow I was at my destination before information updated!

Really? I haven't found any near me within reasonable distance. I'd prefer a newer one, but it must be an SUV. I can't stand riding low to the ground, I like to be able to see more on the road which is why I want one.
Preferably foreign made too, I've seen plenty of people have issues with newer american made cars for some reason.
