Creating a train car or loco!

Hey guys i get the basics down. Throtle, engine sound that stuff but how do i make my own custom i guess is the best word for it engine? i'm looking to make an sd70 in Conrails paint, i have the template but how do i make and/or design the engine?

Well, which 3D modeling application do you own? You're going to need Sketchup, G-Max or 3D Canvas Pro to do it.

You can add blender http://www.blender.org/ to Steamdriver's list of 3d programs that can be used to create assets for Trainz. Doing a diesel loco is relatively straight forward and should only take you a couple of months to learn, but a steam loco will take many months. There is also Milkshape. Look at all the available options first, then choose a program and start learning how to create basic models and work up from there. Building a loco, or even some rolling stock for that matter, isn't an easy task.

I'm afraid that no matter which 3D app you choose, the learning curve will be quite steep. Especially for a beginner. I know, I used to be one.
