I think you just select the rectangular area that you want and then click the Paste button. No Copy button that I know of.

Regards.

So, I guess it is do the rectangular area of the ground texture that is already done and then click the paste button. After that, I go to the area where I want to put the same ground texture and do that area with a rectangular area and hit the paste button again. Is that correct?

EDIT - Tried that and it didnt work......

No. Once you click on the Paste button, the cursor should turn into a rectangular "stamp" shaped like your selection; you just move the rectangular stamp cursor to where you want to stamp/paste and then click, just like with painting ground textures.

Regards.

listen carefully I shall say this only once

Its still not working at all. At the same time, It destroys my terrain while I am trying to.

I like the quote in my post header from the french resistance very funny series on tv years ago in EU!

There is help when you least expect it.:)

I see you have to select texture only and unselect the train, objects and track icon in F5 menu and select the fast shortcut key B to get the create rectangular or square to capture what you want to copy and paste.
Play with these functions like all other functions in Trainz and make mistakes do undo and hit ctrl Z and see what happened and try again till you understand what it does.
The copy and paste work fast but not detailed on the edges so when working close to track or camera you have to like the ladies do some make up more or less depending on the lady and age:hehe::hehe:

When I see you cry for help I know you scare or not play yet with the menu's which is essential of you want to grow and make things the way we do.
Ok that's it for now and take 30 min. for play and fool around on an emptt route or route you not want to safe afterwards:eek:

good luck and keep us posted if the advice works or has been ignored:o

regards

Roy;)

Note to moderators, images are compressed, less than 100k for both.

Click the copy button, then select what you want to copy - it defaults to all, but you can select only ground textures, or only track & splines and terrain topography, or only buildings and trees with no track. The white ring around the paint brush in this picture and no rings around the other three indicates I have only terrain textures selected here. Be advised it's memory intensive, select really large areas like a 2 mile long 32 track yard and it takes a long long time to process and often crashes on my old clunkerjunker. Click and drag, best to start with small areas and gradually increase til you get an idea of what your system will handle.

Paste tool is the middle one, next to that is the rotation tool. It only has 90 degree options, but by rotating 90, 180, and 270 between each paste you can mix up the pattern if you want to. Little tip, a city block is 660 feet, what I did here was laid out rulers 660 by 330, painted over those, then did the copy and paste to make a square mile of blocks to copy and paste from. I know they say you lose quality when copying from a paste, but we ARE talking about dirt here. :hehe:

There should also be a few buttons in the Tools menu: Paste Height, Paste Textures, and Paste Objects. You will want to turn on Paste Textures and turn off Paste Objects and especially Paste Height. There may also be a button or two for Relative Height and Absolute Height; if necessary, I suppose you could choose "Relative Height" if such an option exists.

Regards.

EDIT: Roy and Jim must have posted while I was writing my post (further edit: actually, all three of us posted at the same time :p). See if their advice is helpful.

First of all you need to select/de-select from the 4 icons representing the available functions you want to copy and paste - elevation, textures, objects and splines. If you don't want to obliterate your terrain, don't include it in the selection.

Next hit the copy button, then draw a rectangle around the area you wish to copy. Before navigating away from this area, hit the paste button which will generate the pasting rectangle (rotate with [ or ], then mouse click on the area you wish to attend to.

If you are getting changes to the terrain, it sounds as if you need to sort out which selection buttons you have "live".

OK guys...Here is the situration, When I try to copy and paste the ground textures. It does that, But it also does the scenery and destroys my terrain that I already did for the route. What do I need to do to keep it from destroying my terrain? Thanks.....

You're almost there, dude.

In the paste tool,

Unclick the Terrain button, Buildings, and Splines/Track.

Now when you paste, only the underlying textures will be pasted.

That's it.

Are we having fun yet? It ain't intuitivley obvious, but once you figure out how to do copy/paste of the various types of items it sure makes things quicker. I'm build massive forrests quickly by using the paste objects button.
