Conway Scenic Railroad

I bought this nice looking route of the former Maine Central in New Hampshire from the recently closed Control Point Simulations for 19. It is a portion through the mountains which is operated by the Conway Scenic. But, the section to Fabyan Station and beyond, and the section from west of Bartlett to North Conway and Conway is missing. I'm going to add those sections in by hand. I'm just doing this for myself since it's a payware route.

I thought the same thing because I have the same route and while nicely done, it's not quite prototypical and lots have been chopped and changed to make it shorter and drivable. With that said, you may have difficulties matching up the real terrain with their modified segment.

Even though I'm only 2-hours from Conway, I've never ridden on the railroad, but I have driven past it and stayed in Attitash, NH where the line passes through. In those years, the Maine Central ran freight trains over their White Mountain Division between Portland and St. Johnsbury, VT. Sadly, Guilford closed the line between Westboro, VT and White Hall, NH and from White Hall to St. Johnsbury in 1985. In their typical spiteful fashion, they retained ownership of parts of the line to deliberately prevent any state agency or shortline from actively operating the line again.

It was amazing seeing the MEC U25b's and GP40s pull the freight up and across the mountains way up on the Frankenstein bridge far above US 302.

There have been talks and discussions about reopening the line again for through passenger service but like anything involving rail, it remains to be seen.

Now Dave Snow made the North Conway station for me. I'll be putting it in my Conway Scenic route. Apart from the section by Control Point, the rest of it I'm doing by hand and using flat baseboards raised up to the elevation of whatever elevation the track is at at each end of the route. The hand built parts by me won't have a grade like the Control Point segment has. I don't care that it's not to scale, at least the bulk of the Notch route is done. I'm using Google maps to measure the distances of the track to North Conway, Conway, and to Fabyan Station at the north end with a ruler tool in Google maps and using the ruler tool in Trainz to make the distances somewhat accurate.

If this is to be a Payware route, NONE of my assets can be used in it.
Sounds to me like he has no intention of releasing it, payware or otherwise. Just a personal-use expansion of an existing route that was payware (and is no longer available).

It's not payware, not sure if I could even release it because it was a payware route to begin with that is no longer available right now. It's just a personal project for myself.

Howdy everyone,
Hope this message finds you well.
If I may ask, PLEASE both Dave and RWK to allow this route to be released or something I know one person (myself) pleading with you both to release this route won't mean much, but seeing this brought me very happy flashbacks and I feel compelled to tell my story in connection to this area and railroad. My family used to be in ownership of a condo house on Mt. Cranmore, a mountain in this area. I learned to ski on this mountain, and honestly, that was 20 years ago when I was but a 3 year old. I have fond memories of this, but I always had a connotation of this area with trains. MANY times as a kid my parents would take my brother, cousins and myself on the Polar Express they'd host every year around Christmas time, and whenever we would go into stores, restaurants or whatever, I would immediately grab the pamphlets on display for the model train museums and train stations in the area. Sadly, my family sold the condo house a few years back, and I haven't been back to North Conway in years. Like I said, I doubt one guy asking for this to be released is what'll get this published as a freeware route (given Dave has said he doesn't want his items used in a payware route), but I genuinely mean it when I say that being able to drive on this map would bring me nothing but hours of nostalgic joy.
Happy Holidays!

(Edit: I just read the ENTIRE thread....SMH, My bad yall LOL)

I'm not sure if I can ever release it because it's an extension of a payware Maine Central route that is no longer available, it was at Control Point Simulations which closed. If I would have used my own DEM data instead then I possibly could have released it as freeware. I'm just extending off the existing route with flat baseboards to reach North Conway and Conway and Fabyan Station.
