Content Manager Download Trouble

I'm having trouble downloading dependencies through the content manager. I'm new to Trainz, and I'm attempting to get some of the narrow gauge freeware that is out there working, but when I place the downloaded files into the content manager they're always missing dependencies. When I try to download those dependencies, I get a 'connection interrupted' error, and they refuse to download. I've tried turning off my firewall, and I even went and tried just opening the content manager and searching for the dependency as shown in a video about downloading things from the DLS through the content manager, but no dice. Heck, I tried downloading a random asset with no luck there, either. If it helps, my ISP is Spectrum, I have an active first-class ticket, and I am getting really fed up with all this, lol

Any help is severely appreciated.

In my experience two common causes of this are your antivirus program and using a VPN - some, but not all, VPNs are not Trainz friendly.

Make sure that trs22.exe is added to your AV realtime scan exclusion list. If you have a VPN try switching it off. As I stated above some VPNs will not allow Trainz downloads through.

Trainz.exe excluded from windows, real time scanning has been turned off, internet is working, I have no VPN to turn off, and the problem persists:
; <kuid2:648132:99955:1> : Unable to download asset <kuid2:648132:99955:1>. Connection interrupted.

I've tried grabbing the things I need from the internet version of the DLS, but it seems that one cannot just directly download a file from there for some reason.

The Web (Internet) version of the DLS is blocked because it uses FTP to download. FTP is a high security risk protocol (your access password is sent as plain, not encrypted, text) and is blocked by most web browsers.

I just successfully downloaded <kuid2:648132:99955:1> Green Flag Flying from the DLS using Content Manager - no problems.

If you are in the US and are using T Mobile as your ISP then that is the cause of your problem. (Sorry, just noticed that Spectrum is your ISP)

I don't have T-Mobile as my provider, my home internet is Spectrum, directly plugged into the ethernet on my router. I tried swapping to my phone hotspot to see if that'd work, since my phone's internet is Verizon, but no dice.

No, I don't have T-Mobile. I also just tried using my phone hotspot because that uses Verizon, but no dice. would it be possible to find the files elsewhere on the internet and then install them the same way as the mod? Not all of the dependencies are missing, which I would assume are the ones that came as part of the mod's download.

Another thought (scrapping the barrel of ideas here) - have you logged into your copy of TRS22? If not then that would stop all access to downloads.

To check:-
  1. Start the TRS22 launcher
  2. select the option Trainz Settings
  3. open the MyTrainz tab (it used to be called the Internet tab)
  4. do you see your username on the page or does it show as "username" or "no username ..."
  5. IF it is "username" or similar then click on "username"
  6. enter your username and password (they are the exact same ones you use to log into these forums)
  7. click OK or Close
  8. there will be a short delay followed by a message showing that they have been accepted should appear. If not then you have a username and/or password missmatch - try again.
  9. if successful, close all the open windows (My Account, Trainz Settings and the Launcher)
  10. restart Trainz
I would redo steps 2 to 4 to confirm. If your username is now showing then exit the Trainz Settings, start Manage Content and try downloading using CM.

PS: Even if your username does appear in step 4 above, click it again and re-enter your username and password. Sometimes these get lost somewhere in the process.

Hope this works out for you
