Consist numbers

When assigning a train in surveyor is there a clue as to the consist number?
When in driver mode I can see, say, consist 13 causing a jam but have trouble tying it to a particular driver when in surveyor.
I am working with Cajon Pass which is a good route for ai but have consists halt for no apparent reason and occasionally see consists with the same driver

Ahhh well, after checking this one out, the two identical drivers were on different layers.
The log-jams were being caused by redundant signals where the two lines merge into one, now have the bare minimum.
The consists sitting scratching their cabs needed more way points.
I now have seven ai happily using the layout without a glitch, but my 9f needs help to pull 1k tonne of coal on those gradients
