Conrail-CSX River Line (pictures)800X600

Trainz Bum for now
Hello-
I am atempting to re-create CSXT's River line in Up-State Ny., in Conrail. I am using Microsoft's Livelocol map, to help create it. I am a moderate route builder so any suggestions are appreaciated. This is my first "real" route, so like many its a learning and expeimenting process. Below are a few shots I got from just south of Alsen, Catskill Ny. The town has a few Cement and coal facilitys there. I will post more pics on here as soon as I am able..
Hope you all enjoy
Mike S.

Here is a shot of a Southbound Intermodel at the St/ Rt 9W underpass in Alsen Ny.

thanks chris-
I was looking at your new route today as well. I have to say your's is really outstanding compaired to my work. I presume you've been route building scence the we days of trainz? I got one Question for you, where did you get them X-ings on your route? They look really nice...

Looks well done to me. What track are you using? That last pic it looks like a no ballast track and certain ones hamper FPS, if you're concerned about that.
How much of the line are you attempting?

thanks chris-

Thanks. It's BNSF50's crossings at the DLS. They are very nice! I noticed on your latest screenshot your using no-ballast track. That can kill your FPS. You might want to consider 0-Poly track such as the MP-Wood track included in TRS2006. -Chris

@StorkNest: I am attempting to model from Ravena Ny-Kingston Ny., Althogh I have to re do from Ravena-Catskill. The lay out will be done in sections, to keep FPS down on my comp so i can work on it and get some nice screens for yall. The track I'm using is "MB Fine Scale track-no ballast.

@chrisracer8903: Cool Ill have to DL them soon..

Just one note about my route-
Im only making the route as wide what I can see from the cab, Im using backdrops about 1000' from the viewing distance so my frames will be lower for my comp.

There are some milepost markers both on DLS and at TrainzProRoutes download depot if you want to add that touch.
It doesn't affect my current system much, but on my previous comp where FPS mattered more, there is a test someone mentioned that shows how track affects FPS on mid to lower systems. What you're using gave 76FPS, Auran default gave 64 but some others provided mid-90s.

You need FRAPs or Game Recorder, run that then TRS.
Take a blank baseboard, note FPS and lay out a section of track, note any change in FPS. You might see something.

And there is plenty of track avilable by several creators, the MP type is currently a favorite, I also use norfolksouthern37's Standard Gauge, both types and it has double track sections. VMD track gave good FPS also.

My computer isnt suffering much and I've got about 10 miles compleat; with textures. I have no clue what my FPS are, thanks for letting me know though. I just re worked the line from Ravena to Catskill, with the MB finescale track (no ballast) and it actully didnt suffer much. I had previously had the MP track laid before and it sufferd emansly.

More pics to come as soon as im compleat with catskill-ravena area-

looks pretty good but i agree you should change out the no ballast track, it doesnt look that realistic for mainline track and it can hurt FPS.
i would also say change out the LP crossings for Bnsf50's as mentioned earlier in the thread
keep up the good work:)

tried but......

hello all,

I am keepin the no ballast track, the others are just killin my fps.. they are great though. any how, Im hoping to get the textures compleat at Catskill before I leave town to go to Atlanta Ga., for CSXT conductor trainning program.
I did replace and dowload the bnsf50's crossings and they look really sweet. (bnsf50, thanks there great) I am working on another route called 'Somewhere in Conrail-Land'. I've notcied that re-creating a real mainline is teadious and sometimes you just need a break-hats off to the users that created 100's of miles..
My plans are to finish Catskill and if time permits finish Alsen.
Ill keep you all updated on progress and of course-more photos to come-

Hello All,

@Immobiliare: I DL'ed the signals from the DLS. I found the signals from a post from the fella that did the Rock Island Signals. Cant remeber the kuid # but do a search on the fourms about 'tri-signals' or the DLS..
