config.txt list of commands - content creating

I know no one hardly uses the words "commands" when talking about script and code, however, I can't break easily from DOS days(circa 1989). Anyway, I've been 3D modeling for many years, so I really don't need help there. I'm operating Trainz 2004. I'm new to creating assets and I noticed in the config.txt files that content creators are using words like "istrack" and "bendy" and there are numbers that follow these words. I assume they are commuter commands or something like a command and the number is the switch that turns it on, off, or some other setting. I figured out how to make a billboard. I figured out how to spline a traffic caution cone. I really don't want to have to learn everything through trial and error, so if anyone has a list, or knows where a list of this code and what the "commands" mean and what they do I could sure appreciate your help.

Not sure if there is one for 2004 but the 2006 guide should I believe be similar see here: http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?t=5915

Yep, the CCG (Content Creators Guide) is the best place to go for that information. It's in C:\Program Files\TRS2004\Docs\manuals_cd\manuals\Content_Creators_Guide.pdf

BTW they're called tags because they are vaguely similar in concept to HTML tags. However, there is no other connection with HTML (different keywords, different syntax, different just about everything).

It might also be worth pointing out that config.txt tags are totally separate to GameScript scenario and asset script coding. For information about that go to the API in C:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004\scripts\docs\index.chm

Thanks Malc, Thanks John

I found the Trainz 2006 zip and downloaded the manual.

"Wow!"

I immediately bought the program.

Thanks for getting me straight on the correct terms. Perhaps I'll have something to add to the download station.

For creating for TS09 there is also a DevWiki, a database in web format relevant to creating for TS09. The DevWiki can be found on the Trainz Dev Forum's web site here and one needs to register to access all of the Developers Forum there.

Where programmers etc. from AURAN will help with queries re creating for TS09. As the playing field for creating for TS09 has changed quite a bit since the olden days of TRS04 onwards.

You will also find there some of the new tags, normal map questions and answers, config.txt queries etc.

Cheers
